No matter how much I love other types of cuisine, there will always be a special spot in my heart dedicated for Thai food due to that fact that it was the my first “gateway cuisine.” It gave me the push that was needed into becoming more adventurous in my culinary preference. Back in the days before high school, I was very vanilla in my choice of food. I was a little kid who was terrified of being out of my comfort zone and would do everything within my power to avoid tasting food that look the slightest bit unfamiliar. Now that the situation has completely changed and I am no longer that little wimp, I can say that I am forever grateful and in debt to Thai food (thanks bb <3!) But enough about me, we're here to talk about Thai Fest 2016! The Thai Festival is one of the biggest celebrations that is held annually in Yoyogi Park. If you have yet to try this mind-blowingly delicious ethnic cuisine, you best get yo’ butt out here! This year, the Thai Festival will be held on the second weekend of May, and although (according to myself) the food is the highlight of this festival, you can expect local Thai crafts, alcohol and entertainment to be there as well! Since the weather is going to be warmer, bring your picnic blanket and a couple of beers for an enhanced experience as you get your grub on while basking in the lovely spring sun. Everything you have ever hoped for in a Thai food galore will be within the proximity of your picnic spot. Just in case you’re not acquainted with Thai food, ask a Thai friend for some recommendations! Although I do not consider myself a Thai food expert, here are some of the popular but yummy dishes that I love: Pad See Ew, Green Curry, Tom Yum Kung, Kapow, and Khao Man Gai. Oh, and going with your tastebud is highly encouraged!

Pad See Ew (Thai stir fried noodles)

Thai Green Curry (pretty self-explanatory, it’s green curry! :D)

Tom Yum Kung (Sour and spicy shrimp soup)

Kapow (Thai basil chicken)

Khao Man Gai (Chicken Rice)
