Whether you are a freshmen or last semester senior, joining Her Campus will surely be a smart move in your college career! Need some more convincing? Check out these 9 reasons why you should join Her Campus UIC!
1. Be a part of a national organization
Her Campus UIC is only a chapter of Her Campus. Her Campus was founded by three Harvard undergraduate students during their time in college. After proving successful, chapters started opening up around the nation and some across other countries.
2. Get involved on campus
Make your college years count! Going to class is only part of the college experience. Join the UIC chapter to be involved on campus. Being a part of your community will make you feel much more at home and help you enjoy your stay at UIC.
3. Get experience in editorial or marketing
Her Campus UIC has two main teams: marketing and editorial. Editorial submits content to the website and marketing helps with event planning, fundraising, and organizing team bonding events among others.. You can be a part of one or both!
4. Polish your resume
With that being said, the work you do with Her Campus UIC will look amazing on your resume! Business majors, English majors and more will have related experience to add on their job applications. Leadership positions will start becoming available and will help you gain skills for the the real world after graduation.
5. Plan events on campus
Her Campus Nationals and Her Campus UIC create and host events in Chicago each semester. Being in the Marketing team allows you to plan events as a team and assist Nationals on any events they have be planning on having in the city anytime soon!
6. Have a platform to express yourself and be heard
Social media and blogs are a great way to express yourself, but if you are looking for a way to get a little more out of your writing, Her Campus UIC is a great option. College girls from all over visit our site in search for tips, advice, and informative articles on what’s going on in the world and on campus.
7. Be surrounded by women who want you to succeed
Her Campus is an online magazine for women by women! We are all here to support each other and work together for a better future.
8. Make connections
Her Campus holds a yearly conference in the summer for all chapters. This is a great opportunity to network with other members of Her Campus around the country. They also have keynote speakers from big name magazines, entrepreneurs, and people who work in PR to give you some advice and insight on what it is like to work in those fields.
9. Getting to work with awesome brands
Her Campus has worked with some amazing brands and companies in the past. In 2014 they partnered with Boohoo to host College Fashion Week. Her Campus UIC also hosted its own Boohoo fashion show here on campus. This year, College Fashion Week will include brands like, My Social Canvas, Foray, Ali & Ariel, Frill Clothing, and Bow & Drape.
