The 5 Stages of Taking Your First Yoga Class

1. Preparation! So you signed up to take a one credit yoga class and you have no experience with yoga whatsoever. Time to go shopping! A cute yoga mat along with a trip to Lululemon should do the trick. 

 

2. The “I don’t know what I’m doing” stage. As a newbie, you do your best to follow the instructor and do the poses correctly, but let’s be honest, all you’re doing is looking at the people around you hoping they know what they are doing. 

 

 

3. The “I am not that flexible” stage. I think everyone can relate to this one; it pretty much speaks for itself.

 

 

4. When you thought you had good balance but come to find out that you really don’t. 

 

 

5. When you actually feel like you’re getting the hang of it. By this point, you can probably demonstrate a proper vinyasa AND sometimes keep your balance during the tree pose.You’re by no means on the path to becoming a yoga expert, but at least you don’t feel as clueless as you did in the beginning.
