90’s Trends That Have Made a Comeback

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Maine chapter.

Styles from the 90’s are coming back and we didn’t even notice. As a 90’s child, I couldn’t be more excited. I know you may think of the decade as a low point in fashion as the 90’s grunge was a popular look. But this winter we have subtly brought back glimmers of this decade. Get ready to see some of these pieces in your closet during 2017.

Bomber Jackets

This is a recent trend that is blowing up, they’re everywhere. Bombers are perfect for a casual day with some jeans and a cute sneaker.

Band Tees

Hopefully no one asks me about my shirt because I couldn’t even name three songs by this band. I should probably Google some.

Denim Jacket/Denim on Denim

Denim on denim would have been a fashion tragedy five years ago, but now it’s a trend for the more daring. Be careful. It could go very wrong like with Britney and Justin, never forget.

Chokers

They’re back and better than ever. Even a daytime choker is acceptable now, love it.

Shoulderless Tops

Iridescent Makeup

When we all tried to do our makeup for the first time in the 90’s, glittery makeup and crazy colors were huge, and look at us now. Our highlighter and eye shadow are all glitter and we attempt to make them iridescent like our favorite YouTube vloggers. This doesn’t usually work as planned.

Buttoned A-line Skirts

Round Sunglasses

Didn’t see this one coming, but I’m not mad about it.

Mom Jeans

Painted on skinny jeans are finally not the only option for jeans. Now we can breathe in looser-fitting high-waited jeans. What a relief.

Flannels

Tie it around a t-shirt dress or wear is with jeans and a tank top in the winter. How could you not love the flannel trend being back, especially in Maine?

The 90’s trends are thriving in 2017 and you probably didn’t even recognize it. These trends are nothing new as much as we might like to think, they were surrounding us as kids and now have made it back around.
