How to Make Spring 2017 Runway Trends Wearable

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Emmanuel chapter.

Each season, every major magazine publishes their report on the best runway trends, and Spring 2017 is no exception. While many collections are called “Ready to Wear,” it’s rare to see something come down the runway that could actually translate well in everyday life. Nonetheless, it’s fun to take inspiration from runway trends. Here’s my best effort at making this season’s looks wearable for college students.

“50 Shades of Yellow”Elle magazine

Runway:

Wearable:

You can make this sunshiny hue work for spring by wearing it in small amounts. A bright blazer, a golden tank, or a lemon-colored maxi dress will do the trick when paired with black or denim accents.

“Flower Power”Vogue magazine

Runway:

Wearable:

Spring is the perfect time for florals. You can choose big or small blooms in a bold or muted color pallette. Regardless of what you choose, you can never go wrong with a little flower power.

“Statement-Making Slogans”InStyle magazine

Runway:

Wearable:

No need to say what you’re really thinking, because now you can wear it! This trend has been growing in popularity both on and off the runway, and becomes totally wearable when paired your favorite pair of jeans.

“Vibrant Stripes”Glamour magazine

Runway:

Wearable:

Stripes are so classic, but the vibrant take on this season’s runway is something new to play with. Keep it simple with red and white stripes on top, go all out with rainbow stripes, or switch things up with striped bottoms – the options are endless!

“Wear Your Heart on Your Chest” Allure magazine

Runway:

Wearable:

I love this trend, especially with Valentine’s Day coming up. Hearts spice up a simple sweater, dress, or tee. Take your pick and wear them proudly!

“Bralettes” Cosmopolitan magazine

Runway:

Wearable:

Believe it or not, bras as tops is becoming an actual thing. That doesn’t mean that you have to show everything though. Pair with high-waisted jeans and a cute kimono, or with denim overalls, for a cute spring look!
