Tips to Help You Through the Rest of the Semester

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Minnesota chapter.

With only a short amount of time left until the end of school, it’s very tempting to start slacking off and avoiding all responsibilities. Sitting in a half-full lecture hall and writing pages upon pages of final papers just isn’t as fun as it sounds. But now that the end is in sight, here are some tips to get you through your last month of school!

Don’t ignore your health.

You may struggle to find a reason to go anywhere else besides the comfort of your own bed with some snacks at the ready, but don’t fall into a lazy slump! With the coming of Spring to Summer, the weather should be getting warmer, giving you more opportunities to explore in the city and in nature. Get outside or even go to the Rec Center a few times a week to get some exercise, and you will be sure to feel better for your day ahead.

Change it up.

Try finding a new place to study, do homework, or even a new route to take to class. The change in scenery is a little bit exciting and will help to get you out of the rut that you may have previously dug yourself in so that you can get back on track and finish the end of the semester strong.

Go off campus for a little while.

Sometimes it’s important to forget that you’re a student for a while. The stress of finals and finding plans for the summer can take it’s toll on all of us. Take a day trip to explore with some friends, or even go by yourself and take a “You” day! There are tons of places nearby that are great for activities both indoor and outdoor.

Get creative.

Occupy yourself with a new craft or project. It can be a fun decoration to brighten up your dorm or apartment, or even a project that involves drawing or writing. Find something that you’ve always wanted to try and tackle it full on!

Take time to reflect back on your school year.

Evaluating your strengths and weakness from the past school year will help yourself in shaping who you want to be for the rest of your college career. Focus on how you can learn from your mistakes, and how you can use your skills to improve your life.

Look ahead.

Summer vacation is just around the corner. Get yourself pumped for the last few weeks by thinking of fun ideas that you can do over the summer. Whether it be vacation, jobs, internships or even just hanging out with friends, it’ll be motivating to have something to look forward to.

Stay positive.

It can be challenging to maintain an optimistic point of view amidst the stress and chaos of the end of the school year. Be sure to take time to better your mental health and to de-stress, as well as focus on what you can do to make sure that you finish strong for the end of the school year.

You got this, Gophers!
