5 Top Holiday Destinations in Scotland

If you’re like me and are on a pretty tight budget this year when it comes to holidays, fear not! Who says a holiday isn’t a holiday if you don’t go abroad?! Scotland itself has so much to offer in terms of scenery, culture and activities! Here is a list of holiday destinations that you may not have realised were right on your doorstep this whole time:

  1. Loch Lomond

Loch Lomond has been a popular holiday spot for many decades, with its beautiful scenery, brilliant selection of water sports and interesting villages surrounding it. On top of all of this, it is only 30 miles from Glasgow, meaning if you’re fancying a change from nature during your trip, you can easily spend the day in one of the most diverse and vibrant cities in the UK!

  1. St Andrews

This town is full of history and culture and an excellent choice for a lovely trip away with a loved one or friends. St Andrews is the place to be, especially if you’re a fan of golf, or if you just fancy taking a look at the university where Will and Kate first met!

  1. The Scottish Highlands

If you love the outdoors and all things natural, the Highlands are the holiday destinations for you! Places such as Ben Nevis, Glencoe and Loch Ness offer wonderful hiking routes, along with lodges, caravans, or (if you’re feeling really adventurous) places to pitch up a tent for a few nights!

  1. Glamping

If you’re not into sleeping rough in a tent, why not try out glamping for size? Loch Tay has a wonderful reputation for offering a number of glamping options for very reasonable prices! You can choose from cottages and cabins to wigwams and domes to gain a great outdoor experience, without giving up every one of the finer things in life.

  1. Pitlochry

A small town not far from Perth, is packed with Victorian charm and is always bustling! This place is perfect for a weekend trip away, with a castle, whisky distilleries, and the Pitlochry Highland Games being hosted there annually.
