What Happens When Spring Hits Hofstra’s Campus

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Hofstra chapter.

We are in full-swing of spring! For some reason, everything changes as the warm weather rolls in. I don’t know about you, but everything appears to be better in the spring, and at college, you notice those changes times ten.

Everyone Gets Hotter, Literally

First, everyone seems to get more attractive. Is it all in our heads? Is it because everyone is in a better mood? Is it because everyone is wearing less clothing? Both girls and guys are suddenly way more eye catching than they were last month. You may begin to wonder if it’s in your head or if there are a bunch of new students around. Anyway, I sure am happy to be able to ditch the bulky coat.

Relationships Happen

If you’re already in a relationship, you might feel the spark that drew you to your significant other magnified this time of year. It doesn’t hurt that the warm weather opens up all kinds of outdoor dating opportunities. If you’re from the North, you probably know the frustration of running out of date ideas in the winter.

The Food Gets Better

Another exciting feature of warm weather is iced drinks and fresh food. For me, transitioning from a hot caffe mocha to an iced caffe mocha is a big deal—and it makes me so happy. I love being able to order iced coffee and tea from Starbucks before class without shivering. Not to mention that you can enjoy healthy foods like salads without feeling the need to also eat something warm to heat yourself up after walking around a freezing campus all day.  Also, if you’re into local fresh food, it’s almost farmers market season!

The Views Are Gorgeous

I think my favorite part of spring is the amazing view that comes with it. When you go to school in a nationally recognized arboretum, spring brings beautiful colors and smells. But it also brings on some crazy allergies which are super annoying. At least everything will be green and colorful again.

There are so many things to look forward to for the spring, and especially here at Hofstra, things seem to be changing for the better.
