This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Davidson chapter.

Sure, you may have your weekly meal plan and all, but who doesn’t get a little tired of the cafeteria every now and then? When boredom strikes, stay in for a change and try some of these yummy (and easy) recipes you can whip up right in your room – no chef hat required.

1. Red Beans & Rice

Ah, beans and rice. A classic. Find the recipe here

2. Overnight Oats

For a hearty breakfast that you can customize in any way imaginable, try overnight oats! Start with a basic recipe like this and add whatever toppings or flavorings you’d like.

3. Quinoa

Get your health-food fix in easily with this dorm hack!

4. Mug Cakes

Alright, so this isn’t technically a meal, but dessert is important. Always and forever. One of the great things about the world of mug cakes is that there are literally hundreds of recipes you can try out!

5. Omelettes

Commons omelets are great, but if you happen to sleep in one day, you can totally make one yourself

6. Nachos

Impress your hall mates with this one. Or just make one big plate of nachos for yourself. I’m not judging.

7. Baked Apples

Get your sweet-tooth fix without the guilt with a steaming mug of baked apples! Perfect for the upcoming season, am I right?

So go on and get creative with your microwave and/or fridge! Who knows, you just might become the next Iron Chef Davidson.
