There is no need to be as scared of waxing as most people are. As long as you’re booking an appointment with a licensed Aesthetician, not your normal hair stylist, it will go well. Since I have been waxed several times before, listed below are my reasons to get waxed.

The pain isn’t as extreme as you would think.

Yes, it hurts, but if it didn’t, it wouldn’t be effective. The pain of waxing comes from pulling hair follicles permanently out of your skin. Using a razor only cuts the surface hair, where waxing gets under your skin. The cool thing about waxing is that your hair grows back in half the amount as it did before, and after multiple waxes, hardly any hair grows back at all. This means, the more you wax, the less it hurts, and the less maintenance you will need. And if you’re wondering what waxing feels like, I can accurately say it feels like a Band-Aid being torn from a wound that has not healed. Thus, it’s not as bad as it seems, and it’s worth it. My Aesthetician even gives me comfy pillows, a blanket to snuggle up with during the process, as well as a cool pack that is placed near the location of waxing to prevent further pain. There is also a constant flow of conversation to distract me from the waxing, which helps too.

You feel and look way cleaner for way longer.

Ever wonder what it’s like to not have stubble for over a week? It’s amazing. Not only will you be stubble-free, but you will be razor-burn free. There won’t be a need to worry about bumps, knicks, or razor cleanliness if you wax. Run wild and never worry about being stubbly or fishing around your hair anymore. Personally, I feel more confident going about my day stubble-free and razor-burn free. Your special someone may even appreciate it too.

It saves your back from bending over.

This was the aspect that convinced me the most to start getting waxed. I was tired of bending over in the shower wasting precious time shaving. It just wasn’t worth it for me anymore. Going in to get waxed monthly is great because I can just lay down and be treated like a queen. Getting waxed is like going to the spa to me.

It saves on the number of razor purchases.

If you have course, thick hair like me, you know the pain of spending countless money on razors. There comes a time when the hair bundles up in your razor, begins to rust, and you need to replace it once again. It sucks. Switching to waxing may or may not save you money, but at least it’s one less purchase to worry about at the supermarket.

Have I convinced you to get waxed yet? One more thing, if you live in the La Crosse area, there’s a cool place called The Campus Studio that offers student discounted tans and waxes RIGHT NEXT TO UW-L CAMPUS for all college students. The Aesthetician is amazing and I would highly suggest checking the place out: https://www.facebook.com/thecampustudio/
