When I think “Cyber Monday” I think of people hovering over their computers, eyes inches away from the monitor as flashing pop-ups come on the screen: “99% off ALL Smartphones!” And by the time you get to check out, ALL the Smartphones are sold out, and the next day their back to their original, spendy price.
To be quite honest, I’m not a big online shopping kind of girl. I like to try stuff on, to feel the fabrics and see if it really looks as good on me as it does on the mannequin. I’ve been working in the retail world for the last five years, and have noticed a steady decline of customers in the store on Black Friday each year. I’ve realized that Cyber Monday has become a much more popular alternative way of holiday shopping; sitting in the comfort of your own home, and still eating those Thanksgiving leftovers does sound pretty great.
This year, I decided to see what this big day of online spending was all about. A lot of online clothing stores had promotions like “Get free shipping when you spend over $150” Oh, great.
After extensive research, my boyfriend and I found an amazing deal to Orlando: 3 nights at a nice hotel, plus round trip airfare for only $340 a person! We were both shocked. We both assumed that these hospitality sites were just saying what great bundles they had, when in reality it would be maybe 15% off your room if you book in the next five minutes or something like that.
You could say I’m counting down the days until this vacation!
