5 HBO Shows You Should Binge If You Haven’t Already

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BU chapter.

It’s almost finals season, so I know you all want to binge watch some TV to procrastinate. Here are some great options from HBO.

Game of Thrones

I know what you’re thinking, but I didn’t think I’d get into Game of Thrones either. I totally thought it would just be a dungeons and dragons wannabe, but I was so wrong. With a killer storyline and groundbreaking twists in every season, Game of Thrones only gets better with time. However, don’t get too attached to any character – they may die next. If you haven’t already gotten on the bandwagon, hurry up before it’s too late.

Westworld

Westworld is like Game of Thrones’ sci-fi/western brother. The show is set up in the same way with multiple overlapping storylines. The show follows a western style amusement park with robots called “hosts” that allow visitors to do whatever they want to them within the park. Overall this show is super trippy, but only 10 episodes long so far, so it really is an easy show to binge.

Veep

Veep follows the shenanigans of the dysfunctional Vice-President Selina Meyer and her staff in Washington D.C. Julia Louis-Dreyfus has won the last 5 Emmys for lead actress in a comedy series in her role. Suffice to say that this show is hilarious.

Big Little Lies

This show is all about female empowerment. Big Little Lies follows a group of rich women in Monterey, California. The premise is a murder mystery – we know someone is dead at a school fundraiser and the show leads up to who is dead and why. Did I mention it stars Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman? Big Little Lies is a 7-episode miniseries, so again, it should be an easy show for you to binge.

The Sopranos

We’re taking it back to a classic, folks! The Sopranos was HBO’s first huge hit drama in the late 90s to early 2000s. It follows mob boss Tony Soprano and his family and is must-see television.

Happy watching!
