TV Shows to Binge Watch

The evenings are getting longer, the temperature is getting colder, gingerbread lattes are on the Starbucks menu again and Zara blanket scarves are making their way back around every girl’s neck. This can only mean one thing: Winter’s here! Winter is my favourite season, it’s the perfect weather to get the heating on, cook up some comfort food and stay in bed all day, binge watching a really good tv series. Find below my top picks for those perfect kind of days, as well as what’s on my watch list.

  1. Big Little Lies

Big Little Lies is one of the best tv series I have watched in a long time. It’s only 6 episodes, so can be easily watched all in a day. It’s so gripping, and the acting amazing. The strong female cast will blow you away with their performances, it’s no wonder Nicole Kidman and Laura Dern recently won awards for their acting at Emmy’s and the show itself walked away with the best Miniseries award. I won’t give much of the plot away, because it’s best watched not knowing what’s going to happen. It’s an absolute must see!

  1. The Crown

The Crown is a Netflix original series chronicling the Queen’s ascend to the throne and her first years as the monarch. A few people recommended the series to me, but I wasn’t sure it was my thing. I’m so glad I watched it. Again, the acting is amazing and it’s so interesting to learn the ins and outs of the palace life. It’s quite a big budget production and the sets and costumes are visually stunning. This is definitely a series to get into over those long rainy weekends.

  1. The Handmaids Tale

The Handmaids Tale is based upon the 1985 dystopian novel of the same name by Margaret Atwood. The premise of the show is quite strange and almost frightening to watch, because it seems so real especially in the era of Trump’s America. It’s set in the future where fertility is extremely low, meaning specific women are forced to carry children for the country’s elite. Again, Elisabeth Moss, the show’s lead as well as Ann Dowd, one of the main supporting actresses, both won awards for their acting at the Emmy’s.

  1. Doctor Foster

Doctor Foster was a 5-episode series on BBC1 last Autumn and is absolutely perfect for lazy Sunday viewing. The programme follows a GP who seemingly lives the perfect life, but things begin to unravel after her husband begins to act suspiciously. The second series has just finished on TV, so after you are done with the first series, you’ll be more than ready to start the new one. Suranne Jones stars in the series and her acting is ridiculously good, the show is so scandalous you’ll be hooked from start to finish!

These are all TV shows that I’ve loved recently and wanted to binge watch in a matter of days. I clearly live an exciting life, because I have a list of TV shows on my phone that I’m dying to watch and catch up on. Right now, these include This is Us, Narcos, the second season of Top of the Lake and of course Life of Kylie. Bring on the cold nights!
