Going from high school to college is a big step. You are becoming a young adult and suddenly don’t have the support system you grew to need. Here are some differences between high school and college.
Independence: In high school, you are always told what to do. In college you can do whatever you want, but there are more responsibilities.
Time: In high school there is a bell schedule and you have to wake up in the morning. In college you can wake up to to your first class, but it’s all on you to get yourself up. No more help from mom.
Schedule: In high school you have to take all the classes you’re told, and you can’t choose your schedule. In college you can choose the classes that you want, especially once you are finished with your prerequisites.
Money: Books are provided or cheap in high school. You have to pay for school and books in college, and you have all the other expenses like food, gas, and maybe even rent.
Friends: In high school everyone knows each other. In College, you don’t know anyone, so you make new friends.
