The True Reality of Cooking in College

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at WVU chapter.

1. Quick Wok Chicken

One of the easiest and fastest dinners to make in my opinion has to be some kind of chicken. I make chicken when I want to feel like I’m cooking a nice homemade meal, but don’t have all the effort or time to actually make one. My fav is called Wok Chicken, which is basically chopped up, salt, pepper, and garlic seasoned chicken breast. All you have to do is throw it in a pan to cook and there’s your dinner!

2. Upgraded Ramen Noodles

This is a given, I don’t think I could have written a college cooking article without including Ramen Noodles. They’re super quick, easy, cheap and delicious! You can even take them a step up and add shrimp or chicken if you’re feeling really fancy. People have made ramen noodles with many things… I’ve seen them made into casseroles, burgers, with meatballs, and so much more. If you want to “upgrade your ramen” there’s definitely a recipe for it.

3. Fast Pasta

Pasta is one of the easiest things to make on the go. You can keep it simple or make a nice homemade meal out of them. My favorite quick noodles are butter noodles and alfredo noodles. You can even switch out the sauce for the noodles and experiment. If you have a bit more time, adding shrimp, chicken, peppers, mushrooms, or anything else could make your meal a little more boujee and not so basic.

4. Classic Sandwich

I often find myself forgetting to eat, simply because I get caught up studying and forget that I just completely studied through two meals… so I would usually make an easy sandwich or sub. College kids don’t have enough hours in the day to prepare 3 meals a day with our schedules. There’s always going to be a lazy meal thrown in there.

5. Occasional Pinterest Meal

You’re definitely lying if you say you never searched “Easy and quick meals” on Pinterest in a desperate search for that mouth-watering homemade meal your mom makes you. We’ve all been there, pinning different recipes to try out when we actually have time to make them.
