Maybe you are like me and absolutely love listening to podcasts, or perhaps you are someone who cringes at the idea of listening to a podcast for fun. Personally, I love having a good podcast to listen to while waiting in a doctor’s office, walking between classes, or while getting ready in the morning. I am always looking for new podcast series to add to my collection of favorites, and I thought I would share some of my current favorites with you!

  1. The Habitat

The Habitat covers a year long experiment on a volcano in Hawaii where a group of six volunteers live in a dome to imitate what it would be like to live on Mars. The series follows the crew as they imitate what astronauts would do if they were actually on Mars, including tasks that the crew must complete outside of the dome. I will be honest, I had to listen to this for an assignment, however I was pleasantly surprised by how easily I was hooked to the story.

You can find The Habitat on many podcast apps including Apple Podcasts (https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/the-habitat/id1369393780).

  1. From The Heart: Conversations with Yoga Girl

Yoga Girl, Rachel Brathen, is one of my most favorite people on social media. If you have not heard of her before definitely go check her out on Instagram and of course her podcasts! Rachel covers many topics in her podcasts, and I think that is one of the things that consistently draws me back to her series. She has covered topics such as our inner critic, our individual journeys through pain and how to grow from them, mindful relationships and environmentalism to name a few.

  1. TED Radio Hour

Guy Raz leads NPR’s TED Radio Hour along with special guests in various episodes. These podcasts are similar to TED talks that you might already know. I first got into TED talks when I was in high school, and we had to watch them for my criminology class. I ended up loving them so much that later on I found this podcast series, and I was instantly hooked. If you enjoy TED talks then give this series a try.

  1. The Daily

The Daily by The New York Times has become one of my favorite series within the last two weeks. I had never heard of it before until one of my professors mentioned it in class, and since then I have been trying to listen everyday. The Daily discusses some of the most popular news stories occurring at the moment. In this political climate I think this makes for a very useful way to stay up to date about some of the hottest topics going on in our world.

  1. Radiolab

I first heard of Radiolab when I was a freshman, and my psychology professor had us listen to five podcasts for a project. I was not sure what to expect going in, but I fell in love with Radiolab so hard, that I ended up listening to all five in one day. I could not get enough. Their podcasts discuss strange things in the science world. There are plenty of podcasts in their library, and you are sure to find something that will spark your interest if you dig a little bit!
