I have attended Pace University in Pleasantville for the past three years and over the years I have become extremely invested in researching my university’s history! So I compiled a list of eight fun-facts that Pace University Pleasantville students, professors, faculty, and alumni do not know about the Pleasantville campus.
1. Pace University’s school colors are literally called “Pace Blue (PANTONE® 288) and Pace Gold (PANTONE 123, PANTONE 115 for uncoated stock).”
2. Choate House was owned by Dr. George C.S. Choate and he used Choate House as a psychiatric sanatorium.
3. Dr. George C.S. Choate treated President-Elect Horace Greeley after Greeley lost to President Ulysses S. Grant in 1872. Greeley died in Choate House on November 28th 1872.
4. No part of the Pace University’s Pleasantville Campus is in Pleasantville. The campus is in the town of Mount Pleasant, and actually closer to the village of Briarcliff Manor than it is to the village of Pleasantville.
5. From 1975-1987, the New York Giants used the Pleasantville campus’s football fields and dorms for training camp in the summer.
6. The Pace Perk, which is located in Martin Hall, used to be a bar called “PW (Pace Westchester) Pub.” However, due to U.S. Congress changing the drinking age from 18 to 21 in 1984, PW Pub turned into a hang-out space.
7. On November 13th, 1981, director Woody Allen, his cast, and production crew rented Willcox Hall and used it as an anchoring spot during the filming of Zelig.
8. The Pleasantville Diner, the home of yummy milkshakes and delicious pancakes for Pace students. In 2015, Steve Martin and Jerry Seinfeld filmed an episode of Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee in the Pleasantville Diner.
