As the nights get darker and the mornings get colder, it’s hard to ignore that fall is now here. It may not be summer anymore but fall brings a number of great things. In my writing class last week we had to write about it. The list we came up with was long. Very long. Flannel shirts, acorns, fallen colourful leaves, pine cones, frost, fires, boots, sweaters, Halloween, Target, dressing up, homecoming, all things pumpkin – PSL, pumpkin patches, and decorations, just to name a few!

I have a secret love for fall which has become even greater since I moved to the U.S. three years ago. When I grew up, we never really did Halloween or anything particularly fall since we don’t have Thanksgiving in the UK. I admit I am also slightly biased towards fall because my birthday is in October… Another reason why I love it! After the weather and leaves change it signals to me that Halloween is coming up, then Thanksgiving and then Christmas! In my opinion the best time of year.

If you don’t feel like going out to do something then here are some fall ideas you can do in your home or dorm.

  • Decorate your room or dorm with fall colors and cute decorations, for example pumpkins, a wreath, pillows, banners, window stickers and fall flowers.
  • Make your favorite warm drink! And stock up on tea!
  • Watch a scary movie with your friends with freshly made popcorn.
  • Get a blanket to snuggle up in when its cold.
  • Go for a walk to see the changing leaves and winter sun.
  • Carve a pumpkin or decorate/ paint one.
  • Dig out your boots, sweaters, coats and hoodies to wear!
  • Bake your favorite treats.

However you decide to celebrate or don’t celebrate the fall and its events, make sure you enjoy the last few months of 2018!
