Rebecca is one of my closest friends and the president of a club I’ve been a member of since first year, Koinonia. She’s the sweetest person and dedicated to her faith in God and serving Koinonia.

Tell us about Koinonia!
Can you tell us about Koinonia?
Koinonia is a complete student-run UBC club of Korean Christian students on campus. κοινωνία is Greek for “fellowship”, and our club has various gatherings throughout the week to enable students to have fellowship in Christ together.
Where does the club meet?
For our weekly Thursday services, we meet at St. Andrew’s Hall, which is on the first floor of the residence building on campus. Koinonia also has an office in the AMS Nest on the 3rd floor.
What goes on in this club?
Koinonia has many activities and events throughout the year, but also throughout the week. Every Thursday night we have services, where we praise and have worship, have guest pastors come to deliver God’s Word, then have snacks and fellowship. We also have Small Group that members may choose to attend once a week to gather and talk about our spiritual lives, as well as Early Morning Prayer sessions Monday through Fridays at 7am. Once a month, we also go to East Hastings to volunteer together. During the year, we have a winter ski trip, a retreat during the reading break, and another retreat at the end of the school year. Furthermore, we have various outings such as bowling night, kayaking, biking, etc. where Koinonians gather to have fellowship in Christ.
Tell us about your members.
As our club is all Korean-based, we only have Korean members. However, our members are diverse in that they are of different age, in different fields of study, from different countries, and in different stages of their faith.
