Sometimes, putting together a costume for Halloween is not worth all the time, money, and effort, especially when we have to think of a new costume every single year. If you can’t come up with a costume idea, or simply do not feel like dressing up at all, there are plenty of other festive options for you during the spooky season!
Stay in for a Halloween movie marathon
If you want to stay inside and lounge in some pajamas, you are in luck. During the entire month of October, Freeform is showing several Halloween movies every single day. The movie marathon finale on October 31 shows the classic Hocus Pocus movie seven times, so there’s no chance you will miss out!
Explore a haunted house or a corn maze

Hardy’s Reindeer Ranch has corn mazes open both day and night! The daytime corn maze costs $8 and the moonlight corn maze, after 5 p.m., costs $9. The ranch is located at 1356 County Road 2900 North in Rantoul (about 15 min from UIUC). The corn maze is designed like a treasure hunt and typically takes 1-3 hours to complete. Listen to classic horror tales in an old mansion
Or, are you interested in hearing scary stories? Attend “An Evening with Poe,” a listening party for poems and cautionary tales in the Allerton Mansion. After the readings, guests will have the opportunity to explore the grounds while learning the history of the mansion. This event takes place at 515 Old Timber Road in Monticello (about 25 min from UIUC) on several different evenings throughout the week of Halloween. Check out the details here.
