Winter is coming, and it has the potential to wreak havoc on your skin. The change in seasons and the weather can really affect your skin, and winter brings it on a whole different level. Chapped lips, ashy skin and rough patches are just a few things that pop up this time of year. But don’t fret, I have some tips and suggestions to help you beat the cold – whether this is your first winter up north, or you’re just striving for more glowing skin this winter.

1. Don’t skip the SPF!

Just because it isn’t summer, doesn’t mean you don’t need to protect your skin from harmful UV rays. UV rays are always beating down on us; especially during winter. So, don’t forget to protect yourself. Maybe choose a moisturizer with a little SPF built in.

2. Switch to a heavier moisturizer

Whether your skin type is oily, dry or a combination; a good moisturizer is an essential step for good skin care during winter. Look for creams that contain ceramides and hyaluronic acid to lock in hydration and keep your skin moisturized.

3. Avoid Harsh Scrubs and Cleansers

Harsh scrubs and cleansers can break down the barrier of your skin and cause it to become drier. Switch to a gentler cleanser this season.

4. Invest in some serums and skin oils!

Oils and serums can really help keep your skin glowing and fresh during the winter months. Serums containing hyaluronic acid and Vitamin C which are both great to help achieve bright, hydrated skin. Olive, argon, and jojoba facial oils are also great for keeping your skin nourished (and can be found super cheap at Target)

5. Drink lots of water!

Skincare aside, you should always drink lots of water to keep your skin and your body hydrated. These tips are no good if you are not hydrating yourself from the inside out.

I hope these tips help you (& your skin) live your best life this winter!
