Top 5 Winter Running Essentials from New Balance

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UWindsor chapter.

Thanks for checking out another running report.  This week is all about some of my favourite clothing items from New Balance.  I love everything from New Balance, but these are some of my favourite items for the winter.  Hopefully these items can help you make it through those very cold winter runs!

5. Winterwatch Tight

I love these tights because they have a warm fleece lining and some reflective strips to keep you more visible on dark night runs.  The website state that these tights “Winter-proof your running routine” and are “made to brave harsher winter elements”. Cut from wind-resistant woven fleece, it features NB Heat fleece panels that deliver excellent heat retention. A zippered hem opening offers easy on-and-off wearability.  Stay warm and keep active all season with these tights.”

4. Anticipate Half Zip

Are you ever afraid of going for a run in the winter and getting too warm on a run?  No need to worry if you are wearing this half zip. The material is warm enough to keep you at a good temperature when you start, but also great at wicking sweat from your body.  You stay dry on your run, which helps to keep you at the right temperature. According to the website this is “A workout workhorse. The waist-contouring athletic fit is made from soft, space-dye knit for exceptional comfort, while mesh piecing in the back keeps air flowing freely. A high collar helps stop the wind, and hidden thumbholes help keep your wrists warm. Of course: NB Dry technology wicks moisture away to help keep you dry while warming up and cooling down.”

3.Seasonless Long Sleeve

I love this long sleeve to wear to class on cold days, to wear on cold runs, or under my half zip on very cold days.  This long sleeve doesn’t ride up and moves with you rather than against you. This long sleeve also comes in some really fun colours! New Balance wants people to “Get the most out of every season with our women’s Seasonless Long Sleeve Shirt. From foliage, to frost, to snowfall, its heathered, mid-weight knit fabric offers the perfect unity between warmth and breathability so you can enjoy the scenery any time of year. Plus, 3D-stretch and sweat-wicking technology move with you while helping to keep you dry for many miles.”

2. NB Heat Loft Asym Jacket

I love this jacket for so many reasons!  It is light, but so warm. It is also great for everyday wear on top of being a great running jacket.  I wear this jacket to run, teach, or even if I’m going out with friends. According the the website “the women’s HEAT LOFT Asym Jacket updates the well-loved En-Route Jacket silhouette with the fierce warming technology of our HEAT LOFT insertion knit fabric. It delivers exceptional heat retention for your chilliest outdoor workouts while remaining breathable so you can keep it on after you warm up or wear it during a post-gym commute. The modern asymmetrical front zipper connects with a face-framing draped collar, helping to match function with style.”

1. NB Radiant Heat Bonded Vest

This is my absolute favourite winter running clothing item from New Balance. This vest is so thin and light, but keeps me so warm.  The heat does not leave your body, but you never get too hot. This vest is literally like magic with how amazing it is! According to New Balance “the NB Radiant Heat Bonded Vest for women helps you run like a champion with the warming benefits afforded by our new NB Radiant Heat technology, featuring metallic woven fabric inspired by marathon blankets. Infused with a unique plasma process, this fabric lines the chest, collar and part of the sleeves to deliver superior warmth retention by reflecting your body’s heat back to you. Meanwhile, PrimaLoft® Thermoplume insulates your core with bonded baffles and a wind and water-resistant outer fabric through the front body. NB Heat grid knit fabric on the back offers breathable warmth that helps wick sweat to make it movement-ready.”
