The one thing I kind of miss about high school is the fact that finals week didn’t occur at the end of every 3-4 months of school, rather it was at the end of the school year. Not only is it at the end of the school year, but it’s not really a week, it’s more like a month. However, college is a different story. Finals week is literal madness.

College semesters vary with each college, some being semesters and others being trimesters. Nonetheless, the time period nearing the end of each of these semesters is deemed as “finals week”. For those who are not familiar with the concept, it is the time period in which the last set of exams take place for the semester of classes. A lot of the time these finals can either make or break your grades. In high school, I remember having a day each to take my finals. As in, one day I would have one final and then the other day I would have another class’ final. But either way, I only had one! In college, I learned that a majority of the time you would end up having multiple finals on the same days. Let me tell you, college finals are super crazy. It’s like playing any old Sonic the Hedgehog game, when you finally reach the end of your course, you encounter this over-powered boss. In this case instead of Dr. Eggman, we have to take on a few pages of paper. Which is still intimidating, nonetheless…

The worst part about finals week is not being prepared for it. I mean… have you ever had those professors that that give you the absolute WORST study guide you can think of?! Or what about those professors that give you no study guide at all?! Here’s something to top those both off: what about those professors that give you a detailed study guide for a final with everything that doesn’t end up on the actual final itself?

There is absolutely nothing you can do for finals week besides hope, study, pray, and cry… all in that order. There are ways to go about finals week, for starters it great to mark down the days and times at which you’re taking your last exams and prep for them days in advance by studying chunks of the study guides and practice exams for each final. Another thing is studying with the aid of color-coded notes, it helps you memorize things better. But after all that, sometimes you can only hope that the curve may be in your favor. Good luck on your finals!
