As we progress further into 2019, music lovers of all genres have lots of exciting album releases to look forward to! Although it might feel as if bad news and negativity are impossible to escape in our current political climate, take a step back and find some peace with some new tunes. So, here are 5 albums I’m looking forward to in 2019!

1. Foals, “Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost”

Release Dates: Part 1-March 8, Part 2-Fall 2019

Foals is a four-piece rock band from England, and this band has been together since 2005. Although the band seemed to take a brief hiatus after the release of their fourth album, “What Went Down” in 2015, the band is back in full swing. Foals has already released one single, “Exits,” from the upcoming album, and if this single is any indication, the new album will bring back Foals’ distinct indie, alternative, eclectic, and energetic sound. Fans can also look forward to seeing Foals perform live in 2019, you can grab tickets here. I had the chance to see Foals perform in Salt Lake City in 2014, and this group puts on a great show! If you haven’t heard of Foals before, some of their most popular songs are “My Number” and “Mountain at my Gates,” but I think their entire discography is worth a listen if you have the time.

2. Tame Impala

Release Date: Summer 2019

Although no title of an album has been announced yet, Tame Impala is expected to release new music before the summer, but we might get some new tunes prior to festival season. Tame Impala is a headlining artist at Coachella this year, and will also be performing at the Shaky Knees Festival in Georgia, in addition to a few other performances and festivals. No matter when we get new music from Tame Impala, I’m excited to see any follow up to the band’s 2015 album, “Currents,” which gave us the track, “The Less I Know The Better.”

3. Vampire Weekend, “FOTB”

Release Date: Spring 2019

After an almost six year long break from releasing new music, Vampire Weekend has finally announced their much-anticipated fourth album. Many details about the album have yet to be released, including a date and a name (although we do know the initials), but fans can count on 18 new tracks. The first sets of singles from the album are expected to drop before the end of January, and this band is also set to perform at a few festivals this summer.

4. The 1975, “Notes on a Conditional Form”

Release Date: May 2019

Prior to the release of their third album, “A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships,” The 1975 revealed that these two albums would comprise their “Music for Cars” era. This fourth album has been declared a “nighttime record,” and fans can expect to hear the first single from the upcoming album in February. The 1975 have already begun their world tour, and they are set to perform at Coachella, Lollapalooza, and a few other festivals this year. Check out their website to see the complete listings for their upcoming performances.

5. Ariana Grande, “Thank U, Next”

Release Date: February 8

After releasing three singles from her upcoming album (Thank U, Next; Imagine; and 7 Rings), Ariana Grande finally gave fans a tracklist and a release date. Lately, Ariana Grande’s music has fuelled all of our desires for pop-tracks and break-up anthems. This newest album will be Grande’s fifth album, and its release will precede her Sweetener World Tour. Grab tickets for her tour here. Additionally, as a headlining artist at Coachella, 2019 will prove an exciting year for Grande!

Here’s to an amazing year of music in 2019!
