We’ve all had those weeks when we try and juggle exams, papers, projects, our social lives, and staying sane all at the same time. It always seems like everything is happening at once and you suddenly find yourself panicking about all of the things you have to get done. I am by no means the best at handling weeks like this but there are some things that I’ve learned to help me survive them.

Start working early

As a procrastinator, I honestly hate this tip, but it’s so necessary for me. Freshman year (and sometimes now), I found myself writing papers the night that they were due, beyond exhausted, and hating my life. What helps me from doing this all the time if thinking about that feeling of pure stress and knowing good and well that I can prevent it if I just start working on something before the due date. Even if it’s just a day early, start studying or writing or whatever you have to do to get one more thing checked off your list.

Plan your meals

On top of everything that you have going on, it’s easy to choose to go through the drive-thru to pick up food instead of actually cooking or going to the dining hall. During my busy weeks, I find myself doing this way too much and, as a result, spending tons of money. If I know that I have a super busy week coming up, I make sure that I have plenty of quick and easy meals so that I don’t have an excuse to eat out. It’s also important to actually make time to eat. I usually forget how long I’ve been doing something when I’m trying to get a million things done and then realize that it’s 8 pm and I haven’t eaten since lunch.

Take time for yourself

While this may seem like the opposite of the productive vibes we’re trying to achieve, it’s so important to actually take a moment and breathe. Go for a walk, watch an episode of “The Office,” bake some cookies, just do something to give your brain a little break from all your hard work. Going hardcore the entire day is the best way to burn yourself out and you have too much to get done for that, breathe sister.

Get some sleep

I have never, not once in my life, been able to pull an all-nighter. If you are someone who can fully function on little to sleep, I am beyond impressed. If you are not one of those people, don’t try to be, not during your busy week. Sleep is crucial and much more important and a single grade. Prioritize your physical and mental health by getting some sleep, please.

Finally, remember that you are 100% capable of surviving this week and it’s going to be over before you know it!
