As a college freshman, there is so much anxiety around starting a new school, meeting new people, and exploring your major. For me, freshman year felt like the longest year of my life, but also the shortest at the same time. There were definitely mistakes I had made along the way and things that I wish I spent more time doing.

Everyone deserves to have to have an awesome college experience and here are a few of my personal tips to incoming freshmen :)

Don’t Be Afraid to Be Unsure

Going into college, a lot of people expect us to have it all figured out.. but a lot of times, we don’t! It is really ok to not be ok. You don’t need to have it all figured out when you first get to school. There is going to be plenty of opportunity to figure it all out and things will work out as they should in the end.

Be Involved!

Something that I regret from freshman year is not going to enough sports games and events held by the school. Recently, I have been going to more football games and it is so much fun.. Freshmen, be involved! Join that club! Go to that game! It is worth it

Take Time For Yourself

College life can be hectic.. between running from class to class or hanging out with all of your freinds, we sometimes forget to take time for ourselves. Especially when you live on campus, you’re constantly around people and it can be sometimes overwhelming. Take time to do something for yourself! It will help calm nerves and help you reset for your busy schedule ahead.

I like to take 10 minutes to grab a coffee or do a face mask or just listen to music in my dorm.

Don’t Wait to Get Help

If you are uneasy about a class or you are feeling down, don’t be afraid to seek help before you’re in trouble. For me, especially with a harder subject, I found that it was much more helpful to ask for help before I could fail a test or get a bad grade. It is not embarassing! Everyone needs help in some area, but we just have to be strong enough to ask for it.

He’s Not Worth It

Don’t get waste your time on a boy who doesn’t care… There are plenty of amazing guys out there and you do not need to spend your time on a guy who is not that into you or takes advantage of your feelings for him. You got it girl.

Step Out of Your Comfort Zone

It is scary being in a new place, but I wish I took more risks and did things that I would not normally do. It will bring more opportunities and it will definitely be worth it!

I hope that people can take something away from these tips and have an awesome year! Can’t wait to see what’s to come.
