The Truth About the First Weeks of College

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at OK State chapter.

If I’m being completely honest, I think I’ve had enough coffee these past three weeks to fuel an entire Starbucks for a day. That’s saying something. And if I’m being even more honest, these have been some of the most mentally challenging yet wonderful days of my life. There’s nothing quite as satisfying as leaning back in your chair as you look at all the work you’ve completed. Except maybe the smell of a new book… but that’s besides the point.

The other day, I spent five hours in the library and still only finished about two-thirds of my homework. And that wasn’t even including papers that were due the next week or online homework. College is not for the weak of mind. It requires a strong work ethic or else you risk the possiblilty of getting behind. As long as we keep up with our work (as hard as it is), we can do.

However, it is easier said than done. But somehow, someway, and somewhere we are now here. So we might as well enjoy the ride as we can. I know I’ve only been in college for a handful of days now, but what can I say? It grows on you.
