As someone who’s an active Instagram user, I see many ads and suggested “for you” pages. I saw Kayla Itsines’ (a personal trainer from Australia) Instagram page and found that she had a workout app. Rarely do I click on suggested pages because I find it annoying, to be honest, but I took a chance of this one and I could not be happier that I did. It intrigued me because of the amazing transformation pictures that I saw, so I decided to look into it more.

The app is called “SWEAT” and includes seven different workout programs by five different trainers. The app was created for females to have a community to relate to. The app contains a blog where any of the users can post about their fitness journey and anyone can comment back to them. It is so motivating to see women cheering on other women during their fitness journey. The app also contains meal plans for the week, and you can track what you eat.

The programs that this app offers are each completely different. The first and most popular program of the app is called “BBG” (bikini body guide). This program contains high-intensity workouts as well as resistance training, cardio and rest. What is so great about this program is that you can do it anywhere you’d like. There’s no need to go to a gym because all you need for the workouts are your own body. Once you complete the 12-week BBG program by Kayla Itsine, you can move to the  BBG stronger program, which is very similar to BBG, just more advanced.

The “Fierce” program was created by Chontel Duncan and contains strength training. It is a mixture of martial arts workouts and HIIT. The “PWR” program was created by Kelsey Wells, another one of the most popular programs of the app. PWR focuses on weight lifting and is meant to be completed at the gym using equipment. Kelsey created a “PWR at Home” so that women can complete the workouts at home as well. This program focuses on building strength and muscle. There is also a program for women post-pregnancy which focuses on helping women rebuild their strength after having a child.

Overall, this app is a 10/10 workout app. The trainers show you exactly how to complete each workout by giving you verbal and video instructions. The blog on the app was probably my favorite part because of how inspirational everyone’s stories were. I think this was the perfect creation for women in the fitness world. I would definitely recommend this app to anyone who is interested in starting a fitness journey, it is so worth it for only $20 a month. As a college student, this is ideal because you can do these workouts at home and it is not too pricey!
