Hello, anyone reading this, and I hope you had a restful winter break! That month of not being at college definitely helped me to relax and recharge for 2020. However, the spring 2020 semester is already heating up, and I’m already totally scrambled and full of coffee. I have a lot of exciting art-related goals for 2020, though, which are sure to keep me grounded as the semester unravels! For now, I’m just gonna chill out and talk about some of those for a bit, so here we go:

One thing I’ve always wanted to try is character design. Many artists have a lot of original characters that they’ve designed and developed throughout their years of art-making; I unfortunately can’t say that for myself, I’ve always been a fan artist. I’m hoping to design more characters this year because it will hopefully give me a new perspective and maybe someday I’ll do something with them… like make a comic. I’ve already got some ideas in mind.

This next one is somewhat related to the prior goal, but I would really like to expand my catalog of artistic influences. If an artist’s style is an amalgamation of all of the art styles that they have ever admired, then I wish that mine had more diversity— because right now it consists of a bunch of anime art styles. This year, I’m going to do my best to look for inspiration in ways I might not have done before!

Here’s to a great semester of making lots of cool art and drinking lots of coffee and having as few mental breakdowns as possible! If you’re reading this, good luck!
