We’ve reached that critical point in the semester where the days are simultaneously speeding up and slowing down. Spring break looks like it’s just along the horizon, but it turns out that there are a few hills and valleys to cross before you get there. Exams, presentations, and essays galore––but spring break is so close you can almost taste it. The agony!
Crawling through these next couple of weeks is going to be tough. It’s hard enough to get out of bed, but to sit through lectures, get through readings, and then find the motivation to study is going to be a near Herculean feat. I find myself drifting off more and more into spring break daydreams, and honestly, I’m not doing much to stop them. With a road trip planned to Canada, how can I not want to think about the cobblestone streets of Old Montreal and the pounds of poutine I’m probably going to inhale? How do you not expect me to be scouring countless city guides to map out a rough walking tour of the cute and hipster Mile End neighborhood? Or go down Wikipedia rabbit holes about the city’s history and architecture?
I’m determined to make it through these next couple of weeks with as little daydreaming as possible. I might read a “Top 10 Bagel Shops in Montreal” article here and there, but otherwise, I’m going full school-mode. I have a whole to-do list to get through, and if I stay on task long enough, spring break will be here before I know it. To any of you in the same dreamboat as me, let’s pull through these weeks together!
xoxo,
Emma :)
