What to do While you are Safe at Home to Pass the Time

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at MNSU chapter.

Now that we have so much time on our hands while being safe in our house during this global pandemic, I found some things to keep me busy during this time of uncertainty. And honestly, it has been quite nice to wind down, try new things and relax. Here are the things I have done to pass the time:

  • Read a new book

I recently started a new personal development book and I am already cruising through it. It has been so nice to have enough down time I can spend it enjoying a new book.

  • Finished a puzzle

I find puzzles so relaxing and rarely ever do them. This extra time at home has given me extra time to relax and enjoy doing a puzzle.

  • Start a new Netflix show

For me, I started (and finished) watching Tiger King on Netflix so far over this time. I have also revisited shows I have watched and now want to rewatch them.

  • Cook and bake new recipes

This has been one of my absolute favorites! I have been loving being able to make more homemade meals and baking yummy treats.

  • Get outside and keep exercising!!

This one is another one of my favorites! I have always been so routine and spent my mornings at the gym. But now I have been loving spending my mornings outside on morning runs and having the ability to workout in my living room. This makes me slow down in the morning and not be so go go go all the time. Plus do not underestimate an in home workout, these are challenging!

  • Do some art

I used to paint and draw all the time and it has been years since i revisited that passion of mine..until recently. Now I have time to put towards painting or drawing.

  • Facetime a family member or friend

If you are anything like me, I am a social butterfly so not being able to see my family or friends has been extremely weird for me. I am used to seeing these people on a weekly basis and spending my weekends with them. So if you miss them as much as I do, give them a call or Facetime call. You will be happy you did!

These are just some of the things I have done to pass the time. And honestly, I am not complaining at all about any of them. They have all been good for my soul and to teach me to slow down. So get outside, try a puzzle, call a friend, find what makes your heart happy during this time! You will be happy you did!
