Manifesting Your Life and Embracing the Unknown

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Oregon chapter.

Every Wednesday morning, I listen to this female empowerment podcast hosted called Gals On the Go by YouTube influencers, Danielle Carolan and Brooke Miccio. In this morning’s episode of Doing Your Own Thing & Not Giving a F*%k, they featured 20 year old RGR who also goes by Rish. RGR explains her journey of how she started working in the fashion industry in New York City. She first started as an undergraduate student at UC Berkeley, studying Economics, Data Science, and Operations Research. She always had a love for fashion at a young age, but it slowly drifted as a future career. Rish goes more in depth about her journey in her Life of RGR blog and in the Gals on the Go Podcast.

A major takeaway that I learned from listening about her story was to follow your dreams. As cliche as that sounds, RGR emphasized the big leaps that she took, looking for internships during the pandemic and deciding to take a pause on school. As she explains her journey, working in New York City, she explains how her experiences and believing in herself is part of the reason why she is where she is. RGR would not be the confident and ambitious young woman that she is today without her positive mindset about life.

I found her story and perspective on life very empowering and inspirational.  It was reassuring hearing her experience of changing career paths multiple times because as a current junior in college, it’s hard deciding. There is so much pressure to find a job right after college and Rish explains how difficult her job application process was. She applied to 400 internships and got three interviews. We should all embrace the unknown of future possibilities because  they can have a positive outcome like Rish’s story.
