From Netflix to Amazon Prime to Hulu and more, I’ve seen my fair share of shows. My interests are broad and wide, but a specific genre that I always am drawn to is crime. After seeing show after show, there was a particular one that caught my interest and hooked me in immediately: Psych.

If you love crime and if you love comedy, this show is a must-watch. The premise is about two best friends, Shawn and Gus, who start a psychic agency after a small lie convinces the Santa Barbara Police Department that Shawn is psychic. In reality, he has heightened observational skills and eidetic/photographic memory (the ability to recall memory very precisely after only seeing it once), skills taught to him by his ex-police officer dad. Through this expertise and Gus’s “super-smeller” instinct, pharmaceutical knowledge, and ability to keep Shawn in check, the characters create a hilarious, crime-solving duo.

The show is more lighthearted than most crime series, one of its charming points, because of the characters’ humorous interactions, Shawn and Gus’s friendship, the comic “psychic” episodes Shawn experiences, and much more. Moreover, the added element of crime and Shawn’s acute observations when solving crimes bolsters the brilliance of the show.

All eight seasons are on Amazon Prime, so what are you waiting for? Go fall in love with Shawn, Gus, and the rest of the cast and show just like I did.
