We Need To Talk About Rob’s Friends On ‘LIB’

The opinions expressed in this article are the writer’s own and do not reflect the views of Her Campus.

Spoiler alert: Spoilers for Love Is Blind Season 11 ahead. For the most part, the Love Is Blind Season 11 couples have been pretty solid — well, until Episode 9. Bostonians Michaella and Rob got engaged in the pods and seemed to form a strong and committed bond. However, after Michaella met Rob’s friends, things began to crumble. And honestly, who can blame her? The entire night was one massive red flag.

After meeting each other’s families, both Rob and Michaella expressed that they were in a good place in their relationship. The only thing left for them to do before going to the altar — aside from picking out a dress and a tux — was for Michaella to meet Rob’s “boys.” Before going to meet them, Michaella wasn’t nervous: she said that she had been around Boston men for years and could “hang” when it came to being in a group of men. But right when she walked into the bar to meet the men Rob surrounds himself with, the red flags instantly started waving.

Right when Michaella sat down, Rob’s friend, John, point-blank asked her if she had ever been on OnlyFans, saying she looks like a “hot Italian mother that makes good meatballs, good pasta, and knows how to play around in the bedroom.” As the night continued, John continued to make inappropriate comments toward Michaella, saying that she was “way hotter” and he “thought she would be,” as well as saying he hopes Michaella and Rob “go at it like wild rabbits.” At one point, John asked Michaella if she would be comfortable giving Rob a handjob if he were tired one night. Despite these comments being made to his literal fiancée, viewers didn’t see Rob do or say anything to stand up for Michaella.

After John made that comment, it was implied that he had been cut off by the bartender. Rob proceeded to get extremely angry at the bar’s staff and the Love Is Blind camera crew, saying that he wasn’t a part of the “Hollywood bullsh*t,” demanding that the bar continue to serve him and his friends alcohol. After his blowup, the night concluded with Michaella looking upset and, IMO, uncomfortable.

The whole ordeal was a hard watch. But even more than that, as a woman, it was incredibly frustrating. Despite the comments, Michaella continually said that she wasn’t overwhelmed, and that Rob’s friends weren’t being “too much.” But that still doesn’t excuse their actions, and Michaella staying cool while Rob’s friends hurled inappropriate jokes at her doesn’t mean that Rob can sit idly by.

And sure, John was the only friend who spoke to Michaella inappropriately, but at no point did we see any of the other friends stand up for her or call out his behavior. Her own fiancée didn’t interject — well, that is, until the bartenders wouldn’t serve him and his friends more alcohol. So, Michaella had to spend the entire night being bombarded by comments about her body, while the man she was supposed to marry sat by. Right.

Do Rob and Michaella break up in Love Is Blind Season 11?

Yes, they do. The tension between Michaella and Rob continued into the next day, when Michaella and Rob broke up at a bar with the other Love Is Blind cast members. After Rob got intoxicated at the bar, he got aggressive not only with Michaella, but also with Michaella’s match from the pods, Matt.

In Episode 10, after drunkenly yelling at Matt and Michaella as well as other members of the Love Is Blind cast, Michaella broke up with Rob on the spot, telling another castmate, Erika, that she couldn’t marry him. The next day, Michaella said that Rob packed up his stuff and left her to go to his home in Rhode Island.

While Michaella was hoping to marry Rob, IMO, she dodged a bullet. With the rest of Love Is Blind Season 11 coming out in the next few weeks, we’ll have to wait to see if the two meet up again for closure — or, from Rob, an apology for not stepping up when his friends berated Michaella. Just a thought.
