Goodies to Bring to a Halloween Party this Year

If you’re planning to gather with friends this Halloween, it’s always a nice idea to bring a fun item or treat to share. Here are a few easy ideas that are sure to earn you compliments.

Food

The most obvious contribution is probably something edible, and the key things to remember are that it’s easily divided and shareable, can be transported without strain or stress, and can stay somewhere convenient during the party. Think more cookies and less ice cream cake.

You have quite a few options when it comes to food. If you want something you can buy and bring, chips and maybe some dip are always a reliable choice. To add a Halloween twist, you could pick up some Blue Corn Tortilla Chips, which have a fun purple hue, and pair them with some guacamole for extra color. Also, many brands make specialty Halloween-themed foods around this time of year, such as the orange Oreos. Finally, the most Halloween snack of all that you should be able to buy very easily is, of course, candy.

As for baking, it’s really easy to turn simple baked goods into something more festive by just topping them with halloween colored sprinkles or seasonal candy. I’ve seen a lot of videos of people making brownies and topping them with candy pumpkins and strings of green frosting to look like a pumpkin patch. Another easy favorite is using white chocolate with purple or orange food coloring to cover things such as Rice Krispie treats and pretzels.

Drinks

The main drink that comes to mind for Halloween time is apple cider, which you can buy straight from the grocery store, or if you want to add a special touch to it, you can add in a few apple slices and cinnamon sticks.

The other popular option is homemade punch that uses food coloring to be blood red, or you can color it purple or green and add some edible glitter to give it a potion or witch’s brew look. You can even make individual servings of this drink using things such as syringes and beakers. Extra points for this one if it relates to your costume!

Items

If you’re looking for something outside of a food or beverage to bring, then there are still a few great picks for you.

Board games can be fun in the right setting, and stress-free games like some Halloween trivia can give you something easy and fun to do at a party. If you’re looking for a more spooky option and you have the guts for it, you can pull up with a Ouija Board. This last one isn’t Halloween-specific, but bringing a digital camera to your gathering always pleases a crowd. Even if you have a small or inexpensive one, taking cute pictures of everyone in their costumes lets everyone remember the night fondly

Finally, no matter what your plans are this Halloween, make sure to be safe and have fun!

I'm Harriet, and I'm currently majoring in Elementary Education with the hopes of becoming a teacher. I transferred to CNU from ODU and feel that CNU is the perfect fit for me! I grew up in Newport News, and I actually commute to class every day. My favorite subject is math, and I plan on working hard to maintain a good GPA so I can hopefully get my master's in instruction and curriculum from UVA. I currently work at the Ticket Office here on campus, but I also have experience as a stagehand and a daycare worker. I love working with kids and am so excited to become a teacher.
Some of my passions include being outside, shopping, baking, and video gaming. I love going to the beach, going on hikes, and taking walks when I get the chance. I go thrifting and online shopping probably more than my wallet or closet can bear, and I love to bake something yummy whenever I have free time. I love cozy games like Animal Crossing and Stardew Valley, and am also a huge nerd for Red Dead Redemption and the Arkham series.
Some things that are really important to me that will likely be relevant in this chapter are my strong beliefs in making everyone feel included. I am a firm believer in creating safe spaces, and I also would want to establish a sense of community in everything I produce. I know how lonely college can be, and I hope to be the kind of person I want to see more of and create works that make people feel seen.
