As much as I love fall, as a college student this is when all the exams and midterms begin. The worst part is that, unlike finals, you’re studying and doing work for your other classes. Having to study while also needing to complete an essay for another class is no fun, so here are some ways I’ve been able to keep myself sane during this stressful time.Â
Go for a walk
Thankfully in the fall the weather is still nice enough where you can go on a walk and not freeze. Sometimes rather than sitting in your room stressed, you need a refresh. You need to do something to alleviate some of the stress before you get back into doing work. Trying to do schoolwork while being extremely stressed can make you even more stressed so sometimes stepping away for 15 minutes can help reset yourself.Â
Find new places to do work
Doing work in the same spot can get exhausting, so switch it up every so often. Try going to the library or sitting outside. Getting out of your room is always good to help you feel more productive. I tend to procrastinate more in my room because all I want to do is lay down, so going somewhere else can really help productivity.Â
Reward Yourself
Midterms and exams are a lot of work, therefore you deserve to reward yourself for getting them over with. For each exam you have to think of something you can treat yourself to, maybe a coffee or a sweet treat so that once you’re done with the exam you have something to look forward to.Â
Plan Your Studying and Work
There can be a lot going on as a college student, especially with school and extracurriculars. Make sure you use some sort of calendar or list to know when you have exams, big assignments due, or big events. This way you can plan ahead on how early you should start assignments or should start studying. This way you don’t get stressed out with everything at the last minute and have time to get everything done.
