I think everyone should have a passion, whether it’s their career, starting a family, working out, or creative outlets like dancing and drawing. Our souls crave purpose, and I think our brains make us believe our greatest passions are just hobbies.
When we think of our passions as hobbies, they stay as that — something we do in our spare time and never really prioritize or believe we can’t get more out of. If you’re an artist, I think you should share your artwork with the world; if you’re a writer, I think you should share your words with readers; and if you’re an aspiring dancer, I think you should dance as much as you want and let others see the creativity flow through you.
Every passion derives from a person’s creative interest. Whether that’s starting a business or becoming a dentist, every occupation requires some component of creativity. Just as a dentist masters sculpting and designing teeth before they can perform on an actual person, the same goes for an entrepreneur launching a startup and letting their creative thoughts run wild.Â
An architect needs to get into a creative mindset when thinking of their next property to design. As a writer myself, I can attest that writing is my creative outlet and my greatest passion.Â
A study from the National Library of Medicine showed a positive correlation between creativity and well-being. According to the results, “the present research not only replicates the positive relationship between creativity and well-being but also demonstrates that creativity is beneficial to subjective well-being.”
I don’t think everyone has the luxury to prioritize their passions like others. But I think people should work hard and believe in themselves to make their passion a priority. The fear of not being able to live off of our greatest passions is the enemy of creativity. We need to take risks and amplify our desire for creativity. Â
YOUR PASSION IS WHAT MAKES YOU, YOU, SO EMBRACE IT!Â
