Introduction
Whether it’s freshman year or any year following that, finding new things to do around campus can always brighten up the semester. When going to a small school like Bucknell, it can be difficult to find new things to do during the year. There are only so many things to do before running out of coffee shops to test, sports games to go to, and even errands to run. However, this doesn’t always need to be seen as a negative factor of going to a small school: why not turn it into a fun challenge? With midterms fast approaching, consider this your sign to romanticize the small things and switch up your daily routine to make the slow days a little more fun. Here are some fun things you can add to your Bucknell campus bucket list for this year.
50 Cent Wing Night at Bull Run
Grab your friends and head over to Bull Run for 50 cent wings. Every Thursday, The Bull Run has a special deal on wings of your choice of flavor and style. With countless flavors and sides, this is the perfect opportunity to connect with friends and enjoy a night out of your dorm. With good service and high quality food, a trip to Bull Run should never fail to be added to your Bucknell bucket list.
Sunsets on the Quad
While everyone raves about sunsets from the Malesardi Quad, not everyone takes the time out of their day to sit for a few minutes and enjoy the views in the midst of chaos created by midterms and exams. As it starts to get colder, the sun will be setting earlier and earlier, making it easy to stop by and catch a quick sunset before or after dinner with friends! Not only is this experience unique to Bucknell, but Pennsylvania’s views are sure to relieve stress and allow you to connect with nature for the evening after a busy day of work.
Studying at the Academic West Balcony + New Locations to Study
Trying to find somewhere to study but the library is too busy? Are people talking too loudly instead of studying? This is an opportunity to add to your bucket list and find new places around campus to lock in with classmates and friends. The Academic West balcony provides a view of the trees and mountains, and ensures a quiet and calm study area. In close proximity, MacDonald Commons provides outdoor and indoor seating, as well as swings outside to relax after a busy day. The Commons also have a variety of snacks and meals, along with meal swaps that can be used once a day.
Take a Hike on the Rail Trail
Last but not least, the Rail Trail is a great way to get some exercise and connect with nature during stressful times such as midterms and finals. The trail spans 9.3 miles with asphalt and gravel surfaces (Leighton). There are various activities and things to do at the Rail Trail, including biking, skating, going on walks, and more. It is in close proximity to the Susquehanna River, providing Bucknell students with various opportunities to explore nature and spend time outdoors!
Conclusion
While its campus may be small, Bucknell proves to have many fun activities that can be added to your bucket list for the semester. These fun activities can make your time at Bucknell more fun and allow you to connect with friends and other students in the community, while decreasing stress during exam season.
