The Importance of Having a Dream

Dreams. We all have them. We’ve probably had them our whole lives, and they’re constantly changing and evolving to fit our current selves. When you were younger, you’ve probably had big dreams about your future that you’re only starting to achieve now. Even today, you probably have a vision of where you want to see yourself twenty years down the line. But why is this important?

Having a dream for your future may sound silly, but it’s actually very important. Without a vision of where you want to be, how will you know which direction to go? If you envision a path for yourself to follow, you can better prepare yourself to succeed in the future.

Another great thing about this is that you’re allowed to wander off the path and explore a little. It’s a great way of discovering your true self. Maybe your original dream was incomplete, or maybe you discovered that the dream you’ve held on to is not what you truly wanted after all.

The best part about self-discovery is that it’s never too late to have big dreams. Some people find their path much later in life, or end up discovering something brand new about themselves. Constantly having a goal projected into your future will help you to chase something meaningful and possibly lead you to a million new places you never would have imagined had you stayed put.

If you lived your life with no dreams in sight, what would be the point? Even silly dreams and small goals give you something to work towards and look forward to. In life, we encounter so many negatives; it’s just inevitable. With dreams, you create for yourself a light in the darkness to guide you out. Even if it takes you a long time to achieve, this just makes living your dream so much more satisfying.

Finding something to be passionate about is very special, and one of the best things about this is that no two people are the same. You might find someone with similar dreams as you, but no two dreams will ever be identical. Even surrounding yourself with these similar dreamers can help you find others who help you achieve your dreams faster.

Remember, writing down your dreams can also bring them one step closer to fruition (or more!). Once you write something down, it’s like a promise to yourself and the universe that it will happen. It’s almost like you’re telling the world that this is something you will accomplish, but you can still keep it private. Once you have it in writing, you’ve made it even more real.

When you think back to all of your past dreams, it’s amazing to think about how far you’ve come since then. If you ever feel discouraged about a new, harder-to-achieve dream, always remember all you have achieved in the past. What makes this new dream any different?

It’s absolutely crucial to follow your dreams. Even if you have dreams that don’t come true in the way you originally thought, they have definitely given you something better in life, whether you realized it at first or not. Who knows? Maybe some achievements will open doors to even more amazing dreams you never would have imagined before.
