Dear MSU,

For the past four years, I have called you my home but now it’s time for me to leave. It feels surreal. It hasn’t even hit me yet. I’ve been so busy with school, work, and everything else to realize that this is it. This is where we part ways. In just a few days, I will no longer be a student. I will be an alumni.

All I can really say is thank you.

Thank you for helping me meet all the amazing people I consider friends for life. If it wasn’t for you, I wouldn’t have gotten to know people from all over the world. Who would have thought that my closest friends come from such diverse backgrounds? I learned so much from them, from all of their cultures, and I can even say I partly speak their language.

Thank you for all the memories you have helped me create. Whether they’re good or bad, I will cherish every single moment spent on campus until the day I die. Going to the football games, pulling all nighters at the library, getting lost that first week of college around your beautiful campus, waiting for an hour to get into the bars just to be squished by sweaty strangers, getting to witness when our basketball team beat Duke by one point and making it to the Final Four, Meijer runs at 2am, brunch on Sundays discussing all the details of what happened the night before. I could go on and on about all the little things that have made these years some of the best ever.

Lastly, thank you for all the laughs and I even want to say thank you for all the tears. I’ve grown so much as a person that my freshman year self would not be able to recognize me. I wouldn’t be where I am today without the wins but most importantly, the failures I’ve experienced these past few years.

To be honest, I’m at a loss for words. I’m not very good at goodbyes. All I have left to say is: Once a Spartan, always a Spartan.
