The Chipotle Margaritas Are Coming Back — But Where Can You Get Them?

If you thought the return of Chipotle’s margaritas would be a distant dream, think again. This Halloween, Chipotle is bringing back its margaritas in the spookiest way possible. After years of fans reminiscing about the discontinued drink online, the chain is finally listening — but only for a limited time and in select cities.

Starting Oct. 2, Chipotle is kicking off its “Summon the Spirits Tour,” a five-city pop-up celebrating the return of its fan-favorite margarita ahead of “Boorito,” the brand’s annual Halloween tradition with an entreé offer.

Apparently, some things really can come back from the dead during Halloween. For fans who remember the original drink, the announcement is a chance to relive a little bit of Chipotle nostalgia. And, for all those new to the 21+ crowd, it’s time to see what the hype is about.

This probably seems too good to be true — and it is. The catch? This isn’t a nationwide return, and most Chipotle customers won’t be able to walk into their local restaurant and order one.

So, before you grab your wallet and bolt to the nearest Chipotle, there’s a little more to know about why the brand pulled it in the first place, how the comeback works, and whether you can actually get one based on your location.

When did the Chipotle margaritas leave the menu?

The drink became widespread across stores throughout the country in 2013, although some stores carried them before that. However, in 2018, the restaurant chain began slowly phasing out the drink, until removing it from its menu in 2020.

Since the drinks were pulled, users on social media have been asking Chipotle to bring them back. After over five years, the brand has finally delivered.

How can I get a Chipotle margarita?

Unfortunately, the Chipotle margarita isn’t making a full-time comeback just yet. Instead, fans will have to visit one of five select Chipotle locations throughout October to get their hands on one.

Every weekend in October, one Chipotle location will serve $6 margaritas on Fridays and Saturdays from 3 to 9 p.m. local time. The tour kicks off in Denver on Oct. 2 and 3, then heads to Brooklyn, Dallas, Los Angeles, and finally, New Orleans on Halloween.

Sticking to the Halloween theme, each stop will feature a Halloween-themed pop-up with a dedicated margarita bar, decorations, and an interactive experience to win Chipotle prizes. Dallas will even offer a frozen version of the margarita alongside the original.

The fans in these locations are excited to finally get their hands on a margarita they’ve been asking Chipotle to bring back for years.

Meanwhile, those outside of the partnering locations are definitely feeling the FOMO. One user commented, “You hyped us up just to only do select locations……” Another user wrote, “BOO!!! it needs to be at every chipotle.”

For now, the margarita may only be back from the dead for people in these select locations. But if the internet has anything to say about it, Chipotle will hopefully resurrect it permanently.
