Ohio State is filled with countless activities, traditions, and opportunities to make the most of your college experience. With so much to explore, four years can feel like they go by in the blink of an eye. Whether you are a freshman just getting started or a senior making your final memories, there’s always something new to experience on campus.
To help you make the most of your time as a Buckeye, here are some of the top things upperclassman recommend doing before you graduate!
Attend an osu vs. michigan game
Attending the biggest game of the year at least once is an experience every Ohio State student should consider before graduating. The rivalry between the Buckeyes and Wolverines goes far beyond the football field, bringing energy, school spirit, and traditions to campus. Experiencing THE Game in person is something you’ll remember long after graduation. Whether you’re in the stadium or around campus, make sure you experience this Ohio State tradition at least once!
education abroad
Personally, studying abroad has been one of the best experiences I’ve had during my time at Ohio State. OSU offers so many study abroad and partner programs, with options for different destinations, program lengths, and areas of coursework, making it possible for students with a variety of interests to find an experience that fits them. It can feel overwhelming trying to navigate all the choices, so scheduling an appointment with a Global Education advisor is extremely helpful. Studying abroad is an opportunity to step outside your comfort zone, experience new cultures, and create memories you’ll carry with you long after graduation!
Attend a planetarium show
The Arne Sletteback Planetarium at Ohio State is a great place to explore the universe without leaving campus. Located in Smith Lab, the planetarium offers free public programs for both the campus community and the general public. Presented by OSU astronomy faculty, students, and directors, these shows provide an immersive way to learn about space and the universe around us. Whether you’re interested in astronomy or simply looking for something new to do with your friends, a planetarium show is a unique experience worth adding to your bucket list.
take a fun class outside your major
College isn’t just about completing the requirements for your major. It’s also an opportunity to explore new interests, learn something unexpected, and take classes simply because they sound fun. Taking a course outside your major can help you diversity your coursework while giving you a break from your usual academic routine. Ohio State offers unique classes that allow students to learn in creative and exciting ways. From Intro to Skydiving, Chocolate Science, to Mafia Movies, there are plenty of options to explore something completely different from your major.
attend a theater or school of music production
You don’t have to be a theater or music major to enjoy the incredible performances Ohio State has to offer! Attending a theater production, musical, or concert is a great way to experience the arts on campus while supporting fellow students and performers.
From cheering on the Buckeyes to exploring new interests and experiencing campus traditions, there are countless ways to make your time at Ohio State memorable. College goes by faster than you think, so don’t be afraid to try something new and step outside of your comfort zone!
