It’s September, which means pumpkin spice lattes have officially returned at your favorite coffee shops. Maybe you’ve walked into a store recently and seen fall decorations and fall-scented candles all over the shelves. Not to mention, school is back in session, and we’re now in full swing of the fall semester.
With all this taken into consideration, it should feel like fall. I see all these fall things being thrown at me, but then I step outside, and it’s still 95 degrees. As a girl who’s lived in Florida almost her whole life, I feel like I never get to fully experience fall the same way someone further north would. This time around, I’ve decided that if I can’t control the weather, I might as well do other things that can help me still live out this fall season to the fullest.
- Go to Coffee Shops
-
Coffee shops are probably my favorite place to go during the fall season. Each coffee shop usually has its own set of fall-themed drinks that are only available for a limited time. If you ever want to get that fall fix in the middle of the day, coffee shops are the way to go!
My perfect fall day would definitely include a coffee shop at some point. Whether it’s getting a pumpkin spice latte and reading a good book or having a brown sugar chai and getting some homework done, I always walk out feeling in such a fall mood.
- Dressing in Earthy Tones.
-
One of the best ways to pretend it’s fall is by dressing in fall fashion. Now, because it’s still extremely hot outside, we can’t pull out the cute sweaters just yet, but who says we can’t wear fall colors? Think browns, neutrals, and muted shades.
By just wearing a cute brown top, some shorts, and a pair of mini Ugg boots (if you’re like me and your feet don’t get hot), you can feel like you’re dressed and ready for fall. This way you can still stay cool and not sweat your butt off.
- Listen to a Fall Playlist
-
The songs you listen to can drastically affect your mood; everyone knows this. Instead of listening to upbeat pop songs, turn on some indie-folk. By turning on slower, more calming music, you’ll start to settle down into the cooler season.
Obviously, music doesn’t belong to a specific season, but there are albums and playlists that have a more autumnal vibe compared to others. Some of my favorite artists to listen to this time of year are Taylor Swift, Lana Del Rey, Lizzy McAlpine, etc. You can also put on a specific fall playlist or even a TV show one like Gilmore Girls.
- Consume Fall Media
-
Watching a specific show, movie, or reading a certain book can help you transition into the fall season. By watching or reading something that takes place in the fall, you can be transported to that same place.
There are so many shows and movies that I like watching during this time of year that help me get in the fall mood. Some of my favorites are Harry Potter, Gossip Girl, Little Women, and Anne with an E. I also love picking up a book that takes place in the fall, or even just a specific genre like fantasy or mystery (for the spooky vibes). So, grab a blanket, snuggle up on your couch, and let it transport you.
These are just some of my favorite ways to live out fall in a place where the weather doesn’t really allow you to. There is definitely more you can do, and you can always put your own spin on it based on how you like to celebrate fall, but hopefully my tips were able to help you figure it out!
