A Letter to the Bi Baddies of the World

Happy bisexuality visibility day

Dear Friends,

Today is Bisexual Visibility Day, and I wanted to take a moment and write to you, the people of the world who understand what it feels like to exist in a world that tries to tell you you do not exist. I know that everyday, there are people in the world, on the internet, or in your life, that try to put you in a box, tell you who you should be.
This letter goes out to every one of you. To the ones who knew from a young age, to the ones who found out when they were older, to the people who have dated men, women, and anyone in between, to those who have never dated at all, and those still questioning. I see you, and you matter. You ARE “bisesexual enough” no matter what anyone says.
I think one of the hardest parts of being bisexual is feeling like you have to “prove” your identity. If you are in a straight relationship it is “just a phase” but if you are in a queer relationship you are “just gay”. Our sexuality is not determined by the person we choose to stand beside, and I think that is worth reminding ourselves of today.
We deserve to be visible, not just on this day. But today, I wanna say no matter what the world says, we are here. We are in towns, schools, churches, homes, friend groups, workplaces, walking down the street and everywhere else.
So, to my fellow bisexuals,
I see you.
I hear you.
I believe you.
And I am proud of you.
Happy Bisexual Visibility Day.

With Love,
Emmie <3
