If your TikTok FYP looks anything like mine, you’ve probably seen the viral trend of people DIY-ing paper wands and tucking their credit cards inside, turning a simple checkout moment into something a little more whimsical. Whether it’s for a birthday shopping spree or just a quick grocery run, there’s been a growing appetite for making even the most mundane transactions feel a bit more intentional and aesthetic. Enter Cash App’s latest drop: Cash App Tags. And kicking off the launch of the Tags is — you guessed it — the Cash App Wand.
Released on June 4, the iridescent Cash App Wand is equipped with a keychain attachment, making it easy for customers to clip, wear, and carry the accessory wherever they go. Designed specifically with tap-to-pay in mind, the device is NFC-enabled to make transactions go smoother, helping it really shine in those in-between moments where pulling out a phone or wallet feels too cumbersome. And honestly? It’s hard not to see the appeal. There’s something very Gen Z about turning a payment into a wearable accessory — something that doesn’t just sit in your bag, but becomes part of your outfit.Â
According to a press release from Cash App, one in five American teens already use the customizable Cash App card, which also happens to be the No. 1 debit card in the US among this demographic, according to the brand. Another Cash App survey for Gen Z consumers revealed that 38% purchase collectibles, accessories, or limited edition items on a monthly basis. Yep, that’s “little treat culture” talking. Plus there’s a lot of fun to be found in personalizing things like the Cash App card with styles, stamps, emojis, and so much more. Â
How Do I Use the Cash App Wand?Â
To use the Cash App Wand, users must have a Cash App Card and be at least 13 years or older. If you haven’t yet, simply download Cash App on your phone, navigate to the “Money” tab, design or select your free card, and then follow the rest of the steps. Once you have a card, open Cash App and follow the instructions to connect your device to the Tag. When the Tag gets activated, congratulations! You can now tap to pay without pulling out your phone or wallet.Â
Cash App Tags will work anywhere Visa tap-to-pay is accepted. The tags also come with security features that will allow you to monitor transactions in real-time, and lock and unlock the Tag within the app to prevent fraud or accidental purchases.Â
If you’re looking for new ways to add some whimsy to your life, look no further than Cash App Tags. They’re available starting June 4 exclusively through Cash App, while supplies last.Â
