Summer is finally here and for many of us this is when we get to catch up on our books, shows and movies.

Here are just some of the things you should watch, read and listen to this summer!

Books

Summer is the perfect time to read a good book! Here are some books that are either on my TBR this summer or I strongly recommend!

The “Off Campus” Series by Elle Kennedy

If you haven’t already watched the new show on Prime Video or seen the show all over your social media, the “Off Campus” book series by Elle Kennedy is perfect to binge-read this summer. The first book in the series, (and the premise of the show’s first season), “The Deal” follows Garrett Graham and Hannah Wells as the pair make a deal to fake-date for each other’s benefit. “Off Campus” is a five book interconnected series that follows four college hockey players and the women they fall in love with as they each navigate love, school and life. There are also other spinoff series to read after you finish reading the “Off Campus” books. These are also the perfect books to binge because then you can watch the show right after!

The “Windy City” Series by Liz Tomforde

Another great book series to binge this summer is the “Windy City” series by Liz Tomforde. The first book in the series is titled “Mile High” and it follows professional hockey player Zanders and a flight attendant named Stevie. The five book interconnected series follows a group of professional athletes as they each find love and navigate their careers and lives. This is another series that will eventually be getting its own show, so why not binge the books now!

“Just For The Summer” by Abby Jimenez

This book follows Justin and Emma, who both have the same curse – everyone they date finds their soulmate right after they break up. When the two discover they have the same bad luck, they make a deal to go on a few dates to break the “spell” and then they’ll go their separate ways. Justin and Emma quickly realize that maybe they don’t want this deal to last just for the summer. This was a personal favorite read last summer and I highly recommend that everyone reads it!

“Better Than The Movies” by Lynn Painter

This book is one of my personal favorite Young Adult (YA) reads. The book follows Liz Buxbaum during her senior year of high school. When Liz’s childhood crush, Michael, moves back to town, she is determined to make him her prom date. Needing help getting Michael’s attention, Liz reluctantly asks her annoying next door neighbor, Wes Bennett, for help. The more Liz and Wes work together to get Michael to notice her, Liz begins to realize she doesn’t mind hanging out with Wes that much after all. But it’s Michael that she wants to be her prom date… right? It was just announced that this book will be getting a film adaptation on Netflix. You need to get to reading!

“Beach Read” by Emily Henry

If you’ve never read Emily Henry before, this summer is the time to start! Her books are the perfect beach read, pun completely intended. “Beach Read” is one of Henry’s novels and it follows January Andrews, a romance writer who no longer believes in love, and Augustus Everett, a literary writer who has been struggling with writer’s block. The two authors are polar opposites and, now, they’re staying in neighboring beach houses this summer. When January and Augustus decide to create a summer challenge where they each write a book in the other’s forte, they both quickly realize that maybe they do have some things in common, and maybe the other one isn’t actually that bad. The film adaptation of the book is expected to begin filming soon!

“People We Meet On Vacation” by Emily Henry

Another great Emily Henry book to read is “People We Meet on Vacation.” The book follows Poppy and Alex, best friends from college. The two best friends used to take a trip together each summer until the pair had a falling out two summers ago. When Alex’s brother is getting married, Poppy knows this is the perfect time to rekindle her friendship with Alex, but there may be deeper feelings at play. Netflix released the movie version of this book earlier in the year, so make sure to give it a watch after you read the book!

Shows

Summer is the perfect time to watch some trending television shows. Here are some shows that have just recently come out or are releasing sometime this summer!

“Off Campus” on Prime Video

Like we shared above, Prime Video’s newest show, “Off Campus,” is based on the book series by Elle Kennedy. The show’s first season is based on the series first book, “The Deal.” The show follows Garrett Graham and Hannah Wells as the two make a deal to fake-date each other for both of their benefit. We can’t stop watching and thinking about this show and you need to binge it too!

Every Year After on Prime Video

Based on the book “Every Summer After” by Carley Fortune, this new series just came to Prime Video on June 10. The book follows Percy and Sam, two characters who fell in love after they grew up together and spent their summers in neighboring beach houses. A decade has now passed, and when Percy returns to Barry’s Bay for Sam’s mother’s funeral, she is left to face her past decisions which ultimately led to the couple’s breakup.

“Elle” on Prime Video

The highly anticipated prequel series to “Legally Blonde” is expected to premiere on Prime Video on July 1. There’s not much we know about the show yet except that it will follow Elle Woods before the events of “Legally Blonde.” We can’t wait to watch!

Movies

There are many movies we’re excited to watch this summer!

“The Devil Wears Prada 2”

20th Century Studios

The sequel to the iconic film “The Devil Wears Prada” released in theaters on May 1. The new film follows Andy Sachs as she reunites with Miranda Priestly 20 years later as they navigate their careers amid the decline of traditional magazine publishing. Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, Stanley Tucci and Emily Blunt all reprised their roles from the original 2006 film.

“Supergirl”

Following the success of last year’s “Superman,” this summer we’re getting Supergirl’s story, the protagonist played by Milly Alcock. The film is expected to hit theaters on June 26.

“The Odyssey”

One of the most anticipated films this summer is Christopher Nolan’s, “The Odyssey.” The film is based on the Greek myth of the same name. After the Trojan War, Odysseus faces a dangerous voyage back to Ithaca, meeting creatures like the Cyclops Polyphemus, Sirens and Calypso along the way. The film has a star-studded cast, including Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya and Robert Pattinson. The film will be released on July 17.

“Spider-Man: Brand New Day”

Following the events of “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” a forgotten Peter Parker lives alone as a full-time Spider-Man until mounting pressure triggers a dangerous change within him and a powerful new enemy emerges. The film will be released on July 31.

Music

This summer, we can expect a lot of exciting new albums!

“You Seem Pretty Sad For A Girl So In Love” by Olivia Rodrigo

Olivia Rodrigo just released her highly anticipated third studio album on June 12. She released the lead single, “Drop Dead,” back in April and it debuted at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Rodrigo then released the second single, “The Cure” on May 22. The album just came out and we already have it on repeat!

“Petal” by Ariana Grande

Ariana Grande is releasing her highly anticipated eighth studio album Petal on July 31. Grande described the album as “full of life and growing through the cracks of something cold, hard, and challenging.” Grande released the lead single “Hate That I Made You Love Me” on May 29 and it debuted at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. We can’t wait to hear Petal!

“Dinner Party” by Niall Horan and “Daughter From Hell” by Gracie Abrams

Although I don’t really listen to Niall Horan or Gracie Abrams’ music much, both artists are releasing new albums this summer. Horan released his fourth album “Dinner Party” on June 5 and Abrams is releasing her third album “Daughter From Hell” on July 17.

Happy reading, watching and listening!
