Peter McPoland Covered A Role Model Song On TikTok & Fans Are Losing It

Leave it to TikTok to turn a simple song cover into a full-blown internet conspiracy. Fans are currently spiraling over two of Emma Chamberlain’s exes after musician Peter McPoland posted a TikTok covering a song by Role Model. And yes, both artists have dated Chamberlain. Naturally, TikTok detectives are convinced it’s not a coincidence.

On May 4, McPoland posted a cover of Role Model’s song ā€œSally, When the Wine Runs Outā€ on TikTok. On the surface, it seems harmless; artists covering each other’s songs is nothing new. But fans quickly connected the dots: Role Model and McPoland are both Chamberlain’s exes. Within hours, the comment section was filled, with some fans joking that it was ā€œthe most specific cover choice possible,ā€ while others wondered if the song was meant to reference their shared connection to the influencer.

If you’re confused about why the internet is so invested, here’s the quick recap. Chamberlain dated Role Model, whose real name is Tucker Pillsbury, for several years after they were first linked in 2020. The pair kept things relatively private before reportedly splitting in 2023. Not long after, Chamberlain was rumored to be dating McPoland. While neither publicly confirmed every detail of their relationship, fans believed the two were together for around two years. Then, in late 2025, Chamberlain shared on her podcast Anything Goes with Emma Chamberlain that she was going through a breakup, something listeners widely assumed referred to McPoland. Now, with both musicians tied to her past relationships, fans are suddenly re-examining everything.

As soon as McPoland’s cover surfaced, TikTok did what TikTok does best: analyze every possible meaning. Some viewers think the cover is a playful nod to the situation. Others think fans are reading way too much into it. And honestly? The second option is probably the most realistic. Neither McPoland nor Role Model has acknowledged the speculation, and there’s zero evidence of an actual feud. But that hasn’t stopped the internet from freaking TF out about it.Ā

While TikTok debates the meaning of a song cover, Chamberlain seems pretty unbothered. On Anything Goes, she’s spoken openly about wanting to spend time single after being in back-to-back relationships. She’s also joked that she somehow always ends up dating musicians, a pattern fans clearly haven’t forgotten.

Whether the cover was intentional or completely random, one thing is certain: the internet will always find a way to turn celebrity dating history into a detective case. And honestly? TikTok probably isn’t closing this one anytime soon.
