The K-pop community in the Bay Area has become more prominent over the years, but finding opportunities within San Jose can still be difficult at times. Still, there are ways to put yourself out there, including visiting album stores, joining dance studios, and going to venues that host K-pop events.

Kloud K-Pop

Kloud partners with Bay Area K-pop cover teams to host community events that highlight local talent and bring fans together in an interactive setting. These events often create a space where attendees can not only watch performances but also connect with others who share similar interests.

The space frequently features pop-up events and supports small businesses, offering items that go beyond just K-pop merchandise, including handmade goods and fan-created items.

In addition to its event programming, Kloud sells K-pop albums, official merchandise, and photo cards, making it a popular destination for fans and collectors alike. Its combination of retail and community-focused events makes it a central hub for local K-pop activity.

Kandy Pop

Located in Vietnam Town, Kandy offers a mix of K-pop and K-beauty products. Fans can browse albums and merchandise while also exploring Korean beauty items that reflect current trends in skincare and cosmetics.

The shop has become a convenient and accessible stop for those interested in both music and beauty trends connected to K-culture, especially for those looking to explore multiple interests in one place.

This store also features a photo booth by Photoism, which gives fans a chance to capture memories through themed photo experiences. Inspired by popular idol-style photo booths in Korea, it provides a fun and interactive way for visitors to take pictures with friends, adding to the overall experience of visiting the store.

Purdance

Purdance offers a structured K-pop dance program designed for younger participants, making it a great starting point for those interested in learning choreography in a supportive environment.

The studio divides its classes into three levels: “Mini,” “Junior” and “Teen.” The “Mini” level is designed for ages 5 to 9, “Junior” typically serves preteens, and “Teen” is for dancers ages 13 and up.

The program focuses on building foundational dance skills while introducing K-pop choreography, helping students develop both technique and confidence over time.

Guildhouse

Guildhouse has hosted several K-pop events in the past and continues to serve as a gathering space for the community. Known as a gaming and social venue, it provides a unique setting that blends different interests while still welcoming K-pop fans.

On March 8, 2026, they held their first “Fire on the Floor” event, which featured performances by local dance teams along with vendors who run small businesses selling items such as stickers and keychains. Events like this highlight the creativity within the community and give local artists and performers a chance to showcase their work.

Eastridge Center

K-pop-related events, including Random Play Dances (RPDs) and live performances, are frequently held at this mall. These events often attract large crowds and create an energetic atmosphere where fans can participate, dance and engage with one another. It has become a familiar venue for local fans and performers, serving as a consistent location for community gatherings.

In 2024, I performed there with my K-pop dance team, an experience that highlighted the energy and support within the community. Moments like these reflect how these events can bring people together and create lasting memories.

The Ritz

The Ritz is a nightclub that occasionally hosts K-pop-themed events, offering a different environment compared to daytime gatherings and dance studios. These events allow fans to experience K-pop music in a nightlife setting, complete with DJs and dance floors.

An upcoming K-pop rave is scheduled for May 1, 2026, giving attendees another opportunity to engage with the music in a high-energy environment and connect with others in the community.

San Jose’s K-pop scene may take some effort to navigate, but it continues to grow through local businesses, dance studios and community events. These spaces provide fans with opportunities to connect, express themselves and celebrate their shared interests.

Hey! I'm Sanjana, but you can call me Sanju. I’m currently a Communication Studies student at SJSU. I love food, especially frozen desserts and tiramisu. Boba is my go-to drink, and I'm always down to explore new boba stores and flavors (though mango-passionfruit green tea remains my favorite).

I'm actively building my online presence on Instagram and YouTube, sharing my journey as a student. Through these platforms, I aim to connect with other students who are also pursuing higher education. I also aspire to launch a relevant blog and sell handmade stationery someday.

In my spare time, you'll find me engaged in writing, reading (particularly YA fiction), and dancing. As a K-pop fan, I mostly participate in K-pop dance covers, and my favorite groups include NCT, Stray Kids, and ITZY. As a music enthusiast in general, I vibe with various genres. Ultimately, my life goal is to explore and travel the world!
