As the finals anxiety approaches and our systems go into survival mode, there is always a small part of us that needs to be reserved for relaxation. I’ve found mine in The Pitt.
The Pitt characters have strong, distinct personalities, and I think that this says a lot about their preferences, including where they would study. Below are the characters I think you’re most like based on your favorite finals study location.
Dirac Library – Dr. Baran Al-Hashimi and Dr. Samira Mohan
Dirac is where I think people go to really focus. It’s the science library for anyone who’s ever been there. It’s classic, quiet, and borderline haunted. Both Al-Hashimi and Mohan are dedicated, focused people who you can tell like to make sure they understand and study to the best of their ability.
They’re by the book and know it like the back of their hand. I’m convinced those Dirac warriors are a lot like these two. I’d describe Dirac’s fans as strong, focused, knowledgeable, and determined.
Strozier Library – Emma Nolan
Strozier is by no means a fake study spot to me. I know a lot of people who get a lot done there. If you’re okay with a few interruptions when you inevitably see someone you know, Strozier is the perfect place for you.
Emma seems like such a sweet and social individual. She worked hard, and I know she did so while also staying social. She’s the type to grab herself some Starbucks and take a seat in a comfy area with her headphones, occasionally taking a break to say hi to a classmate.
Dodd Hall – Dr. Frank Langdon and Dr. Melissa King
Dodd Hall attracts two types of people: the ones who need to isolate themselves to get things done, and the ones who can’t focus without silence.
Langdon seems like the type to need to turn his phone off, put it in a bag, and focus in silence. If he wants a break, he could get up and look at the history there. I’m sure it would bring him so much joy as a history nerd. He represents those students who can’t focus on music or talking around them.
Mel is very different. I think she would study at Dodd, not because she couldn’t stop herself from being on her phone or talking to others. I think she thrives in silence, and the aesthetic of it allows her to feel like she’s studying in a different era; it gives her motivation.
The Sweet Shop – Dr. Santos and Dr. Whitaker
Some people can’t study without a good snack or coffee, and when I say people, I mean me. I love studying at The Sweet Shop, and I can admit that I’ve skipped a class before and studied there instead.
Santos and Whitaker would be inseparable; they seem like the type who study best with someone else to bounce their ideas and train of thought off. Flashcards, Quizlets, and talking through the content is their vibe.
The Sweet Shop is for the people who thrive in chaos, background movement, sound doesn’t faze them, and they can focus best knowing everyone around them is busy as well. As someone who also falls into this category, I know these two would thrive here.
Student Union First Floor – Princess and Perlah
The Student Union is an interesting study spot, especially on the first floor. I’m convinced these two would study here just to hear the drama that could pass them, so they can gossip about it. I’ve tried studying in the Union, and that piano just gets overstimulating.
If you’re productive in the Union, you’re seriously impressive. However, I don’t see much studying getting done with these two in one place anyway.
Student Union Basement – Dr. Robby and Dr. Abbot
Robby and Abbot are a bit older than the ED attendings, and I’m fully confident they didn’t make it through finals season in college without a drink or two during their study sessions.
The basement also drowns the noise out of the louder upper floors, so they do get some real focus in before relaxing with a drink and watching a football game, before heading out to their dorm.
1851 – Mateo and Donnie
Mateo and Donnie seem like the type to study over lunch together, eating their favorite foods and talking through work in the lounge before the conversation evolves to something else because they know the content already. Mostly because they probably live in a nearby dorm. 1851 usually attracts those who study in pairs anyway.
Landis Green – Victoria Javadi
Javadi is not only a student, but an FSU influencer who studies on Landis Green for aesthetic purposes. She would love a good towel on the green and watching the sunset as she finishes her work.
Landis fans get their stuff done, but not without appreciating a little nature. It helps them relax and not feel so stressed about their impending exams.
Mina Jo Powell Green – Dana Evans
Mina Jo Powell is for the ones who want to study in nature, without all the crowding and threat of a football hitting you while studying. Dana seems like she would love the peace of the green without the heavy traffic of the middle of campus. She studies alone in peace.
Landis Hall Sky Lounge – Joy Kwon
Joy applied for Honors for the fun of it, picked Landis because of the convenience, and studied in the lounge for the convenience as well. With her photographic memory, she doesn’t have to review much anyway, and can quickly get back to her dorm so she can go out and do what she wants to protect her peace like the mental health queens she represents.
Cascades Park – Dr. Cassie McKay
Cascades is a good walk from campus, and some people need to get out of here to really focus. There are also options over there, with coffee shops in the area and space to walk for those who want to. McKay seems like she would go crazy if she were constantly on campus, representing those just like her.
Suwannee Dining Hall – Dr. Yolanda Garcia and James Ogilvie
I’m not a fan of either of these two, but I had to include them somehow. I’ll never understand how people study in there, and I don’t understand the consistent attitude of Garcia and Ogilvie. The only appeal I could see is efficiency. Some people just don’t play well with others, and those people study in Suwannee.
As summer approaches and finals are the only thing holding us back, I hope that everyone can find some relaxation, and maybe some motivation to finish, as they have their newfound character from The Pitt.
