10 TikTok Transition Ideas For College Decision Day 2026

College decision day is coming up on May 1, which means high school seniors across the country are officially deciding where they want to spend the next four years. It’s a pretty exciting time, and one of the most fun parts is actually revealing where you will be going to school. I remember when I was graduating high school, I was so excited to post on my Instagram account wearing the sweatshirt of the school I was going to, and it was so fun to see everyone else’s too.

But now there are so many different ways to do commitment posts, and one of the coolest ideas comes in the form of a TikTok transition video. These kinds of videos are pretty common for people when they are getting ready for things, like a before and after of getting ready for prom, for example. But now, it can go beyond that, with a transition that reveals where you will be spending the next four years! (In a sense, it’s still a “getting ready” video; you’re just getting ready for a big life change.)  So, here are some fun TikTok transition ideas to reveal those college decisions for Decision Day 2026.

“Go (Xtayalive 2)” by kanii

This song is a great transition for a college decision because the transition happens on the word “go,” like going away for college! Arwen Celis used it perfectly in this video; she’s wearing normal clothes in the beginning, when the song says, “Tryna pull up to my crib I think you really gotta” and then when “go” comes right after, that’s when the transition is, and she’s then wearing the sweatshirt with the name of her college on it. And then you have the rest of the song to show off how excited you are about your decision!

Legally Blonde’s “Bend and Snap”

Obviously, this is an iconic scene from an iconic movie about an academic queen, so this is the perfect way to announce where you’re going to be spending the next four years. Start in your regular clothes, and then during the “bend” part of the monologue, bend down, and then “snap” back up wearing your new college merch!

Make Your Own Sound With Your School’s Fight Song

Although this one involves some audio editing, it’s a really cool way to incorporate the school you’re going to into the audio of the video itself! Mel Schmidtt created her transition video using “Touch the Sky” by Kanye West and then after the lyric, “I think I died in an accident cause this must be heaven,” added her school’s fight song. That is also where the transition happened, and Mel used a transition of her closing her bedroom door and then opening it to reveal her bed party for her commitment post.

“Busy Woman” by Sabrina Carpenter

This video example is used as a graduation transition, but it could work perfectly as a college decision transition. You’ll be a “Busy Woman” in college, so the lyrics are perfect. Start with the lyric, “I didn’t want you little bitch ass anyway,” in normal clothes, and then the lyric, “but I’m a busy woman,” would show you wearing your new school’s merch!

“Goodbye” by Sabrina Carpenter

Another iconic Sabrina song, and this one is perfect for a college decision post because you’re saying “goodbye” to high school and hello to college! For this transition, wear normal clothes at the beginning, and then after the lyric “go put on some clothes” change into those new college clothes!

“Congratulations” by Post Malone

Although this video is using this transition as a graduation post, this song and transition could also be perfect for a college commitment post. Film yourself in normal clothes for the part of the song that says, “I was patient, yeah, oh, I was patient,” and then filmed yourself in your new school’s merch for the part that goes, “Now I can scream that we made it.”

“Night Changes” by One Direction

This creator used this as a graduation transition, but again, it would be great as a college reveal transition too! For this transition, start with, “does it ever drive you crazy,” in normal clothes, and then transition into your college gear with the lyric, “just how fast the night changes.”

“My House X Bow Down”

This is an audio that’s remixed on TikTok, and it’s perfect for transition videos! In the beginning of the audio when it just repeats “uh oh” and builds up, wear normal clothes, and then once the lyrics start, that’s when you can transition to reveal where you’re going to college.

“Where’d All the Time Go?” by Dr. Dog

This is a classic song for high school and college graduation time, so obviously it would make the perfect transition for revealing your next school too! This one is pretty easy, because the first part is just lyrical, and then the transition comes in right before the lyric, “where’d all the time go?”

Taylor Swift’s NYU Graduation Speech

I was obsessed with this speech when it first happened, and I love that it has been turned into TikTok transition material! For the beginning, when Taylor says, “the scary news is, you’re on your own now” wear your normal clothes, and then at the next part, “but the cool news is, you’re on your own now,” you can show off your school choice!
